I wanted to spend a lot of money on painting equipment, so I bought a Crystal Pallette. First-Hand Experience: I’ve seen them play in person maybe 5 times, a couple were at home, and others were when they came to play Oxford United back in the old days at my hometown stadium. I loved watching Palace play in their questionable clashing colours. Because of their amazing fans(especially the singing section) and of course the eagle and cheerleaders, I always love coming to Selhurst Park. One of my fave London teams for sure. Palace are a London team, which means I should hate them, and yet I don’t. I just can’t hate a team that have cheerleaders… I mean this is so un-English and so sexist, and yet, well, it’s so original that I like it. Here’s what I mean: OK, I know it’s silly, but it’s so un-English. Anyway, Palace have without a doubt some of the best fan support in the English game. They’re based in South Norwood, and are known as the Eagles. An Eagle actually flies around before the games. They were founded in 1905 which makes them relatively new. They play in blue and red stripes which looks weird. Like a colour clash. They have had some very famous managers including Venables. They once finished 3rd in the Prem, and once were FA Cup Runners Up(1990) but other than that have never done anything special at all. But this sort of makes them pathetic and sad and makes me feel sorry for them and so I’m giving them 5 stars for being different, innovative, and having perhaps the loudest crowd in football. They also have a women’s team, so maybe the whole cheerleaders thing isn’t all that sexist.

The team of the ‘80s. Remember that? Where did it all go wrong? One of the cooler smaller sides in greater London seems stuck in the past. Can they ever get back to the big time? It’s pretty doubtful now looking at the way the club is run.

Aug 24, 2005 Crystal Palace 0 v 2 Chelsea «You’re Just a Small Club from Croydon, a small club from croydon, you’re just a small club from Croydonnnnnn» A total crap stadium but this was the game where I realized sitting in the away section when you’re rolling deep with the most passionate supporters(I mean duh they’re the ones traveling with the team) is the most exciting way to experience a football match. (especially if you’re a Chelsea supporter in 2005) this is when the supporters get very mischievous in chants and it’s hillarrrrious. as for Selhurt Park itself: well quaint in that old fashioned grounds sort of way. hard not to apperciate the traditional layout.
