I really love Clapham books, it recently downsized but still has a sizeable children’s section and a number of fantasy books. If they don’t have what you want then they will be happy to order it for you and will arrive within a few days. Staff are super nice and helpful and I’ve had one or two really good conversations with them when the shop was empty.

This is my local bookshop and I really like it. The staff is extremely friendly and always eager to help you finding what you are looking for. They’ll never push you to buy, so that’s the main difference between them and the other bookshops around. The shelves are well-stocked with books for every reader and you can find some rare books that you won’t find anywhere else. Definitely recommend it.

Clapham books is the closest thing to perfection when it comes to bookshops. The selection is superb although I usually look for science fiction. The staff is extremely polite. helpful and knowledgeable. I can never just come here for 10 minutes and leave with the book I came looking for. It’s more like a 3 hour stay during which I have bought at least 5 books.

Great shop mainly because they have a wide variety of books. I’m not the typical reader and hardly find books that will make me read them. In spite of this I went out of this bookshop with at least one book. When I’m in a mood to read something or want to buy book as a present I go there, knowing there are enough books to choose from and they wont kill your desire after first chapter.

This is a favourite bookshop of mine. I’m not a big reader, but the majority of book I own, mostly local history books, I have bought from here. Also has a good selection of maps. Thought I’d add this poem to my review. Clapham Books There is a local bookshop It’s a favourite of mine When I want to buy a book I use it every time It may not be a big place But they have a good choice of books From politics to biographies And even some for cooks So if you’re in the high street In Clapham at some time Pop into Clapham Books It won’t be a waste of time Maybe one day I’ll make a book Of these poems I compose And do a book signing in the shop Slim chance of that I suppose. Thanks

Friendly staff who will go out of their way to help you or make recomendations are what sets this fun independant store apart from the normal chain options. They stock some intersting and unique books here too, it’s a fun place to browse and buy alike. If they don’t have what you’re after, they can have it ordered in by 3pm the next day and they’ll send you a text to let you know you can collect it. That’s just great service.

Will Self does readings here. I’m a big fan of Will Self so I’m biased and think the book shop is great.

Clapham is what a bookstore should be: floor-to-ceiling books and a knowledgeable staff willing to answer questions. I wish we had more bookstore like this in the States. Over here bookstores have morphed into a weird coffee shop/greeting card store/music outlet hybrid with a smattering of Oprah’s Picks displayed in a bin just so they can keep the bookstore pretense alive. Depressing. Anyway, this is not Clapham.

As a person who has a passion for reading I also have a passion for books and bookshops. I like finding books that you don’t see every day, especially children’s books. Clapham Books is just that sort of shop. I was looking for something special for my nephew and stumbled across as serious of books called«This is…» The book I purchased was«This is London.» It is a wonderful book that shares all the sights to see in London and there are books for lots of different cities. The shop has more than children’s books, but I have found that they carry children’s books that I have not seen in other shops. In addition I’m all about supporting independent bookshops and since the service and knowledge of the staff is beyond compare how can I go anywhere else. Besides, I don’t want the whole world to become a Border’s or Waterstone’s.

I love books, and there’s no better place to buy them than an independent bookstore. It increases the feeling of discovery and intimacy that goes with book-buying — makes it more special, and of course helps out your local community, rather than one of the mega chains. This shop is pretty small but has an excellent selection. You’ll find bestsellers alongside some classic treasures and unusual lesser-known finds. The only problem is that as an independent shop, they don’t offer the discounts that others do. The staff are always friendly and totally helpful. I went in there looking for a copy of Pessoa recently and they ordered it within a few days. They also accept book tokens if you happened to get any for christmas(yes, I am a geek, but I love getting that present!).

Clapham Books is a lovely local bookstore. They have topsellers on their shelves as well as obscure, super literary underground titles. Unfortunately, since this is an independent bookshop, they don’t do discounts. But that’s OK because this wealth of knowledge is on your doorstep and the service is fantastic. The staff knows all about books. If you’re looking for a good read but you’re not really sure what book to get they’ll provide you with a list of suggestions to choose from. Also, if you really want a particular book that they don’t have in stock they’ll order it for you and it will arrive within a week. I love this place. I am a serial customer. It feels good to support your local independent bookshop. So, join the revolution, get your next thriller here.

This is a really nice Little local bookshop. It hasn’t got everything but as the last reveiw points out it will order anything. It has a fair selection of current fiction and non fiction releases and then seems to concentrate on selfhelp/psychology books, kids books, film books, gay books and travel — which probably says more about Claphamites than the bookshop itself. Good to browse around on a wet Sunday.
