This is what Londoners consider good Mexican food? *sighs* While Chilango makes a good effort to serve decent food, it fell way short in my book. I’m no Mexican food connoisseur, but their food just wasn’t on par with what I expect out of a Mexican restaurant. I ordered a burrito, and maybe I’m just too used to the massive ones I get back home in Cali, but man do they skimp on their fillings. I had a chicken burrito with rice, peppers, verde salsa, lettuce, cheese, and sour cream. It was surprisingly small and lacked flavor/spice. The chicken tasted really bland and the verde salsa didn’t have the little kick that I expect with a hot salsa. The peppers were the only really flavorful component of my burrito. I will commend Chilango on have very fresh ingredients. The veggies were fresh and the meat was steaming warm. Staff was friendly and helpful enough, restaurant was clean, prices were fair, and the location is fabulous if you happen to be wandering the streets of Camden Town shopping or whatever. If you’ve never had authentic Mexican food then you’ll probably think Chilango is great. Unfortunately my spoiled Californian taste buds weren’t a fan.

I’m a big fan of a burrito and Chilango is my favourite chain! The food is pretty consistent throughout the branches to be fair — really fresh with fantastically marinated meats. Most of the time at other places my meat choice doesn’t matter as they all taste similar, or are overpowered by the salsa — but at Chilango all the flavour come through well and compliment each other. The steak is my favourite. I love this branch in particular as it has a really chilled seating area. It’s nicely decorated to the Mexican theme, managing to avoid tackiness and staying kitsch. Service at this branch is great as well, always addressed as ‘miss’ or ‘sir’, how often do you hear that? Oh and the stawberry and kiwi frozen margarita is yummy!

Anyone who knows me, knows I’m the biggest fan of Mexican food ever and Chilangos is in my top two for London, so how could this place fail! What a silly question, of course it didn’t fail! Damn this place rocks! So what’s good?! Hmm, everything! Seriously though, super friendly staff, standard selection of Mexican amazingness, but everything tastes fresh and flavoursome! This is despite me hitting the place late on a Friday afternoon! Portion wise, well it’s chilangos, it’s gut busting, so this last time I went for the burrito bowl! Absolutely brilliant decision, I might add! A big serving of chicken, which was perfectly complemented by the rice and beans and the salad! Damn, I’m struggling to find anywhere to criticism. I guess if I had to, they would have an extra choice for rice, like brown or something! Proper 5 star place for me!

Very friendly staff — we came in fifteen minutes before they opened and they still served us! Was craving Mexican food since leaving California five months ago and this was the first place we have tried. I had the Low Carb Box and my teen had a chicken burrito. Both were very fresh and tasty and prices are normal for lunch. Will definitely be coming back here.

After trying two branches, I just don’t think I’m a Chilango fan. Their vegetarian option seems to be a regular burrito without the meat(although my dining companion was perfectly happy to get a double-meat pork and chicken combo). They also gave me a funny look when I asked for mine without the beans. The chips are too thick and, though warm, had a stale vibe. The décor was interesting — like a 60s motel turned into a restaurant. Really strange, though, was the wall carpeting in the loo. I’d call this more of an emergency-burrito on the way home than a joyous burrito experience.

Friendliest burrito I’ve ever had. Stopped in here for a mid-week lunch. I was surprised(and a bit concerned) at how quiet it was. But as I ambled to the til my fears were allayed by a really warm greeting, certainly far surpassing any other fast food chain I’ve experienced. The excellent service was confirmed by them offering to bring my burrito over(imagine that happening in maccy d’s), sharing a joke with me when they bought my food and then assisting an elderly couple to a table. I feel like I’m gushing but I was genuinely impressed. The burrito was good without blowing me away, strong ingredient ratio but not spicy even though I asked for it to be. There was hot sauce on the table(with a choice) but I would have been disappointed if I’d taken out. £6 for a moderately-sized chicken burrito might have seemed slightly pricy but the service was well worth that. Left with a smile on my face

There is a reason why this branch gets 5 stars. On our recent trip on Sunday, I asked about the Belly Pork and they gave me some samples. I picked the lean ones and it tasted great. However the majority was fatty — it’s heaven for fat lovers. I e-mailed a query to the management yesterday about the possibility of them offering Pulled Pork and got a quick reply to say they were going to launch Pork Shoulder Pulled Pork — Hurray!!! It is just great that they do listen to you. I will not be eating meat until Christmas, so I will give my verdict after then. All the Pulled Pork fans, head to Chilango in Camden!!!

The best Burrito in London. A bold stetement but true. A welcome addition to Camden. The Burrito was moist but no juice came out of it. The chicken Burrito was filled with rice and beans and the chilli sauce was delicious. I recommed this casual dining place to anyonw who likes or wants to try great Mexican food.
