We visited our second night in London as it was just north of our flat. We were hoping to eat dinner(fish & chips) but the kitchen closed early on Sunday. However Kate, the manager, allowed us to pop down the way and get fried chicken and have our Guinness with it. Then because it was slow, she turned the channel to the season première of Downton Abbey for us. We cannot wait to go back while the kitchen is open and have fish & chips.

Nothing special going on in here. Although a nice brew from the Midlands in a guest ale

We were waiting for a table at the Empress Indian restaurant next door and the waiter suggested we have a drink at the Brown Bear after which he would come to collect us when the table was ready. This bar is OK… large open space, decent atmosphere and prices. This is a solid local bar but not worth travelling too unless your in the area.

I happened to be here by accident and was not quite happy with that. Our order took very long to be delivered and the décor of the place was nothing special. I guess it is OK on the whole but I don’t think I am coming back.

A nothing-special pub. Hardly any atmosphere. Just OK, but there are better pubs nearby.

i used to live downstairs from this place. it’s a run-of –the-mill pub, but it was as convenient as it gets to run down there and grab a drink with the neighbors. once, my corkscrew broke off inside the bottle so i ran down there and the barmaid was nice enough to take care of that for me. actually, they’ve opened wine bottles for my flatmates and i numerous times. i guess this is a thank you. theres a massive, friendly dog that hangs around there. i like dogs.

I was expecting more from this pub as I’d seen a few positive reviews here and there, but although there wasn’t much wrong with this pub, I left feeling underwhelmed. They do serve real ale and I was happy to see a guest ale available. I love guest ales because it’s generally something I’ve not had before. The pub should be cosy but just didn’t feel it. 4 screens of sport meant surround sound, in your face you-may-as-well-leave-if-you’re-not-interested-in-it SPORT! I wasn’t so I left sharpish.
