Until dining at this restaurant I wouldn’t have said I was a huge French food fan. Things have changed. Looking on Tastecard for somewhere to have a quick but yummy dinner I stumbled across Boulevard Brasserie. It’s close to Covent Garden and the Royal Opera house, so by nature in the footfall of tourists aka an assumed tourist trap and not somewhere I’d usually choose to eat in if I hadn’t heard something about it first. What a mistake that is. This gorgeous little French restaurant was a glaringly obvious perfect find. We tucked in to delicious starters of chicken liver parfait with red onion chutney, and king prawn gratin. Both delicious. We washed it down with bellini’s which were the only disappointed of the night(I’ve had far better!). For our mains we had beef bourgeon and douphinois potatoes, and seafood linguine. Both were great sized portions and absolutely divine! We both commented that it was better than any food we’d eaten in Paris! We washed our mains down with fabulous wines, paid promptly and then ran out the door to the ballet we were minutes away from missing as we’d been enjoying our time in the restaurant too much! Everything from the friendly staff, the«no no no, you mustn’t get the risotto you must get the linguine»(obviously said in a lovely French accent), the dim candlelight, the décor and ambience, to the mouth wateringly tasty dishes and bold wines was perfect! I highly recommend. And to top it off, 50% off with Tastecard. Boulevard Brasserie makes you feel like you’re winning in life.

Quaint and intimate French brasserie in the heart of Covent Garden — romantically lit(obvi not great for photos, as evidenced by the quality of my sticky toffee pudding pic, but makes for a great date spot). Came here for dinner on a Sat evening, timed to miss the pre-theatre and post-theatre crowds and walked into a half empty restaurant, mostly filled with couples on dates. My friend booked the reservation with Opentable’s 50% off deal with the purchase of 2 courses(starter and main or main and dessert). Worked out to be an amazing deal. The house red was a Bordeaux blend that was on point. I opted for the wild mushroom penne with Parmesan cream sauce. A filling portion, not overly saucy and served with a healthy serving of arugula so you feel like you’re getting some greens in. Had the sticky toffee pudding to finish. The caramel sauce was divine, the cake part was a tad dry and perhaps not the freshest it could have been. Neither of those things kept me from polishing off the entire thing however, so I wouldn’t be swayed away from this dessert choice.

BESTPUMPKINSOUPEVER. I don’t know if it’s just seasonal but I crave it to this day. Also their beef bourguignon is incredible, though a bit small in size. We had a huge Christmas party in their downstairs area, which we rented along with the bar, for about ~35 or 40 people. They were very attentive, the display was beautiful and the staff incredibly friendly. The drinks were also good, though not included and a bit expensive. The food we had was delicious(this is when they gave us the pumpkin soup) and I really enjoyed my time there. This place might be 5 stars but I’d have to go back again. I think if the portions were slightly larger for the price it would be 5 already.

I went for a pre-theatre dinner with a friend, and it was a great experience. I ordered the mussels, and my friend ordered the pre-theatre menu of salmon and beef bourguignon. All of our dishes hit the spot, and we left feeling very but happily filled. Ambience was that of a cute, local French type of place. Nothing fancy, but efficient and sophisticated. Lastly, service was good as well. At times, they needed a little reminding, but overall, things ran very smoothly and we made it well on time for our show after a great meal. Highly recommended if you’re in the area for a show!

Cosy and warm décor inside. The tables are quite small but everything fit on our table just fine and it made for a nice intimate dining setting. It was not the most amazing food that I’ve ever had but it was very tasty and with brilliant service: would definitely go again. I ate here with my mother(who is gluten intolerant) before watching The Lion King. You could see the theatre from the brasserie and its location was amazing. We used the tastecard here and were not at all discriminated against for it not did we encounter any problems with payment. We both had the whole tiger prawns in garlic butter and thought the food was lovely but a little on the small side in terms of portion size. We then had dessert: apple and rhubarb crumble with icecream for me and eton mess for my mother which they took the shortbread off of because of her allergy. The staff were absolutely wonderful and were very helpful with allergen advice in terms of their menu. Lovely pre-theatre food and would happily go just for lunch or dinner.

My mom and I were looking for a relatively low key(read: not London expensive) restaurant to have dinner and found Boulevard Brasserie through Trip Advisor. It’s easy to find, has a warm, cozy interior and was the perfect ticket. We tried the baked brie and the beef bourguignon, which came in its own little Staub cast iron dutch oven. I would go back and it was nice to have something other than British food for a change!

Really nice place, where my family and I had a really good dinner in a warm atmosphere. The French waitress was really kind and helpul, especially explaining some dishes we had never heard before, and the food we had was all really good and good priced, from the appetizer to the dessert… recommended!

When you meet up with a friend for a pre-theatre dinner, you’re looking for a few things — quick but friendly service, a decent pre-theatre menu and a good deal for 2 or 3 courses. Boulevard Brasserie had all of these… Well the service was a touch slow. But once seated we enjoyed a kir royal and 2 courses for £18. Can’t moan at that! I had some lovely pâté to start and beef bourgignon for main. The pâté was forgettable but the beef was tender, warm and filling. A perfect main meal for that time of year. August. Yes I though this weird too that they had this on the menu in August(ever heard of a lighter summer menu guys?!) but on this particular day when it was lashing down with rain and particularly freezing as you’d expect the choice suddenly seemed pretty inspired! Couple of issues — the tables were small and squeezed together so everything was perched perilously on the tables when the main meals arrived. You also ended up squeezing past every other diner to get to your table and knocking over a few bits of cutlery in the process. But lovely food, well priced, great company and really close to the theatre, that’s all I needed!

Great little place. Went downstairs for snacks and cocktails. The bartender was great. The music was good. The music was really good too. The dinners looks delicious. Don’t half step. Downstairs dining area is great and conducive to good dinner conversations.

Went there our first night and the power had been cut, the host was so nice offered recommendations on where else to eat. The next night went back with no booking, hostess was as nice and friendly. Seated upstairs, server was very polite, funny. Food was very, very good– sea bass, langoustine special were outstanding. My husband had fish and chips, and a salad both were good. Well priced! Very good experience.

For some reason I always assumed any independent Covent Garden restaurant will be a tourist trap, expensive dining, hidden costs and small tasteless portions. However I can honestly confirm Boulevard Beasserie was not. The food was homely, comforting, lacking no flavours and with 50% off from Toptable open to everyone the prices were reasonable enough especially in the portion sizes they came in. Service came as slightly aggressive by our waiter Abdel but then you’ll find that it’s part of his dark and sarcastic humour and you will eventually warm up to him. I think he was trying to play the ’ I know I’m always right’ character but was always kind in his actions to help us take a photo, check if we’re okay and served as well. He did confuse us with the 50% off deal as it was limited to 2 course which wasn’t in the terms and conditions on Toptable as it says minimum order of 2 course and not maximum. I was declined my soup to qualify for mt offer but with the sizes of the large mains you will be more than content to miss a starter. I do hope everyone can accept his humour as it can be taken the wrong way. So I started off with my duck confit beautifully presented in a clay pan on top of a large bed of lentils, lardons, bacon and mushrooms. It was delicious, perfectly seasoned and the flavours of the ingredients like the mushrooms and bacon really came through and creating lovely textures per bite. The lentils were perfectly cooked to soft creating a lovely accompaniment to the succulent juicy duck confit that just fell apart along my knife and fork. I even ordered a side of mash to soak up and finish the lovely sauce. Even though we were happily full, with the cold weather, dull skies, downpour we just had to make room for dessert. So glad we did. My sticky toffee pudding was absolute divine. Usually I do love hot against cold, ice cream melting into my hot pudding. But Boulevard Brasserie did it perfectly. The cake itself was separately between half a plate of a hot toffee sauce and the other half a smooth creamy vanilla ice cream. It was not only fun dipping my cake into the sauce and then the ice cream to create my personalised preference of sweetness, temperature and consistency but it was delicious as well. The whole meal was very satisfying and definitely memorable. The atmosphere was dim, romantic, clean and pleasant, a great way to wind down and it in a tourist place like Covent Garden it was very peaceful as well. I ended up paying £14.00 for my 2 course meal and a side after the discount and without drinks. It’s always that 12.5% service charge that strikes it up. Still I will more than be happy to go there again as the food was delicious and perfect for a winter’s day..

Why can’t more london restaurants have good service, good atmosphere, and good food for a reasonable price. This place stands out.

I might have offered 3 stars, but our servers were so entertaining, I cannot offer anything less than 4. They were hilarious, even taking time to teach us an amusing trick involving a fork, a toothpick, and a salt shaker. Oh, and they provided good service, too! On arrival, we thought we would have a wait, however, there are several floors. We sat downstairs in a very cozy room, that I really enjoyed. As for the food, it was very good but with a little room for improvement. My husband and I started with the baguette and black olive tapenade. It was a very small portion, however, it was really inexpensive. We should have ordered two. The mash served with the beef bourguignon was lacking seasoning. Although it was fine with the stew over it, I would have preferred it could stand alone. The bourguignon was incredibly rich and flavorful. Fantastic with the exception that some pieces of meat were quite tough, while others were very tender. The inconsistency detracted from the dish. For desert we shared the chocolate tart with mint chantily. I liked it, but it was nothing special. I wished we had ordered the sticky toffee pudding that got rave reviews from our companions! Overall, a very nice meal which was fairly reasonably priced if you ignore the exchange rate.

strolling down after watching a West End play last Saturday, we decided to dine alfresco. Boulevard Brasserie attracted us with a versatile offering of dishes and reasonable prices. the service was very friendly and the food(steak and mussles) was tasty. I would definetely go back for a meal and recommend it to anyone who is looking for a convenient place serving good food.

Recomendo!

We arrived earlier than our reservation and were seated promptly with no problem. The Sunday set menu is nice but we opted for the a la carte. We enjoyed oysters, moules frites, and fish & chips and licked our plates clean. The beer/cider selection is a bit lacking(just one of each) and the service was absent(we wanted another round but didn’t see anyone until we were done with our meal and ready to go) but the food was good and we’d do it again. Two drinks, two entrees, and an appetiser plus 12.5% service charge all totalled less than £45. If we’d ordered dessert we would’ve qualified for 50% off our food bill, which no one told us about, but we enjoyed ourselves and it was totally worth £45.

My friend booked a table for 10 through Top Table and we were given the option to get 50% off our food bill if everyone ordered 2+ dishes from the a la carte menu. BARGAIN! I ordered the Fois Gras & Chicken Liver parfait. Was nice, nothing amazing. Then I ordered the Moules & Frites. Since it is Lent, I’ve given up cream & cheese(yes, I know how absurd that is), I requested the cream be taken out, which they did accordingly. It was quite mundane(compared to Belgo’s). There was barely any jus and it was just quite salty. Maybe due to the lack of cream? The mussels themselves were quite small, not as beefy as Belgo’s… I know if I want Moules & Frites Belgo’s is the only place to go. I ate my giant cauldron of mussels, again it was nice. Nothing spectacular. I like this place and I’d probably go there again. It has a nice relaxed atmosphere. The table was booked for 2pm, we did not leave till about 5.30pm and never felt rushed to leave. Which was nice of them seeing as most places would start to usher you our after 2 hours.

Quick glance: + romantic setting for dinners(dark lighting, candles) + two floors with enough space between tables + popular with groups + served by happy, friendly French waitress + food cooked well and as ordered — a la carte menu quite expensive(paying for location) — presentation is mediocre, considering the prices I went as a group of four to Boulevard Brasserie on Saturday night after booking a table via a popular website which gave us 50% discount for our food. The food was cooked well but nothing spectacular or extravagant. For example, I had the filet steak with dauphinois potato and peppercorn sauce. It wasn’t beautifully presented for the £19.95 price tag, and I personally found the sauce and the potato too salty. However, the steak was cooked to perfection as I had ordered. I do highly recommend the dessert. I had the fruit crumble with crème anglaise(seasonal), my partner had ther petit au chocolat, and our friends shared the sticky toffee pudding. We couldn’t resist but to have a taste of each other’s choices as they all looked so good(and tasted just as good as they looked). The French waitress who served us was very energetic, bubbly, and friendly, although service was slow at times as she seemed to be the only one covering the downstairs area. This is a «safe» restaurant to go to if you are in the area and don’t know where to eat. The food is cooked well and the staff very friendly. It’s not great value for money but you will walk out with a satisfied tummy.
