Used to be good. Maybe a new chef, better service, new music and the divan in the back. Move the bar down, you don’t need it and put more room for tables. I want to see this as 5*

I visited here with a few friends. The food is good, but not great. Unfortunately, it lacks in atmosphere. The name beyoglu is a bustling, exciting area of Istanbul; it doesn’t live up to the name. The Turkish restaurants in green lanes are busy, exciting and cheaper. I noticed items on the menu that are not in any way, shape or form Turkish such as tabbouleh which is an Arab food. We received the bill, and I was confused because I thought theres no way it could be that much. They slapped on an undeserved service charge. The staff had zero personality! I asked the waiter for something, and he didn’t acknowledge me so I wasn’t sure he heard me or not. It could do with older, more experienced staff, an authentic Turkish menu and some dancing. At the moment it appears to be targeted for foreigners not Turks.

We have been meaning to go to Beyoglu ever since we discovered it on one walk through Belsize Village ages ago, and were greatly rewarded for finally going. Beyoglu offers some really great food, including many wonderful vegetarian options. The Veg Kabab was wonderful, and well complemented by the Felafel, Dolma, Mucver and extra Haloumi starter dishes we ordered. It would be easy to come here many many times and never order the same thing twice… Kiddo friendly: — lots of different starter dishes to choose from, you’re sure to find something that young kids will eat — no high chairs

We lived about a 10-minute walk from here for a couple years and once we discovered it, ate here every week without fail. Between the Yakut wine, the kebabs and roasted eggplant, we were in heaven. Sadly, we had to return to the US and haven’t found anything nearly as good here in California. This is at the top of my list once we come back!

Originally a creation borne out of Istanbul, this was the setting for yet another farewell dinner in a quaint, quiet part of the world steeped in grandeur and allure. The halloumi was delicious, rubbery and moorish. The selection of cold meze dips was a little on the small side, but with a healthy wedge of bread you quickly remember how filling Turkish food is.

My brother and I have lived round the corner since 2002 and probably racked up about 100 visits between us. The owner originally had a restaurant in Beyoglu in Istanbul then moved to the UK about twenty years ago, first in two other venues before settling in Belsize Park. The staff are super-friendly(Turkish), the food is delicious and you can end up with a really good value meal once you realise how much food they bring. My preferred approach is to pick a selection of meze(hot or cold) and skip the main altogether, you get to taste a lot more dishes that way. They will keep topping up the bread basket when it runs out so you’re unlikely to be anything other than stuffed at the end of the meal. Make sure you try the baba ganoush(aubergine) and if you’re in the mood for meat then get a mixed grill as a main. For drinks, a fairly Turkish approach(and I’m sure a real Turk will correct me) is: — Drink Raki(aniseed spirit/ouzo) as an apéritif — Have ayran(yoghurt drink) with your meal(or Efes) — Have turkish coffee(without sugar/medium/sweet) after dessert and before the turkish delight. Be aware that it’s really bitter without sugar — tourists always end up drinking it sweet The only downside is that Belsize Village is not really near anything in terms of nightlife/going out afterwards. Having said that, if you live anywhere nearby then you should try it.

This Turkish restaurant is quite small and charming. The food is very good value, and they do a lunch time menu of two courses for ten pounds, for which you get a starter, a main course and tea or coffee. I have tried various different selections from the menu, but would recommend the grilled prawns(they can be a bit messy though) and the halloumi cheese. The restaurant is located in Belsize Park which is a pleasant area. This resturant would be better for lunch than dinner, though is very good if you are on a budget.
