Tucked away near the railway arches next to Haggerston Station is the Better Health Bakery. A great location for many East Londoners — that is, if you can find it! It’s right off of Kingsland Road — where there is loads of foot traffic, however, you really have to know where BHB is because you’re just not going to run into it. It’s right around the corner from Tonkatsu East ramen house. I’m a big fan of BHB. Most people in the area will go to E5 bakery in London Fields. They may not have as big of a selection and their prices are a bit more expensive as E5 bakery but the bakery does it’s part to help society as it provides trainee placements to people recovering from mental ill health. I’ve come here a number of times for a freshly baked loaf of Raisin and Hazelnut bread. Yum. They also have sourdough pizza on the weekends. It’s great. Just be sure to come earlier in the day — they were all out of bread when I went there today/Saturday at 2pm. They usually have loads of selection in the mornings. I definitely will keep coming back — it’s my local bakery and they do great things for the local community.
