For value and quality at lunch time, definitely come here. Their lunch deal consists of cold starters + main + salad + drink for £7. With great Turkish food at a great value, they’re hard to beat. Been a few times now and they’ve never disappointed.

It is nearly 2 years since I last visited this restaurant. This was one of my favourite lunch joints when I used to work in the area. The restaurant does get very busy during lunch time. Nevertheless staff are friendly and courteous. I ordered my favourite dish — Lamb Shish Kebab with Rice. Happy to know that the food still tastes as good as before. The price is still the same, at £6.95 cheap and cheerful! However I was surprised when I saw the plate! It was smaller, compared to 2 years ago. If we factor in the increasing prices of food, wages and overheads, I can understand the reduced portion. Bread is on the house. You can actually have as much as you like. Really. If you love chilli, you must ask for their chilli sauce. I can not finish my lamb pieces without the chilli. I always ask for tap water when tasting food. It was nice of them to put a slice of lemon in my glass of tap water. Not many restaurants do that now. They have 2 other branches in Kings Cross and in Farringdon.

The experience was good, the ask for a falafel plate with is huge for one, and good for two :) they where to and spicy just how we like it! It comes with fries, salad, and also some bread. we got back home feeling fat and happy

Best Mangal is a pretty solid budget Turkish restaurant in Old Street. It’s not quite as good as some of the best ones in Dalston or Green Lanes, but for the area, it’s tasty and good value too. They do a lunch deal for around £7, where you get a starter(humous, cacik, aubergine salad, etc) and one of the kebabs, with salad, rice and bread. If you want most food for your money, go for the mixed doner kebab, or if you prefer your meat in chunks, the mixed shish is good as well. The only negative is they don’t appear to include any of the vegetarian options in the deal, which is a little unfair to those who don’t eat meat.

A case of disappointing follow up. Best Mangal in Shoreditch is a little more run down than the West Kensington location. So it fits right in Shoreditch :) Anyway, whilst the location was a little shabbier, this is reflected in lower prices across the board but also poorer food quality. Service was good, but there was a lack of availability for certain cocktails. The«unlimited» turkish bread was lovely but the mains themselves were a little less spectacular. The meat was dry, the rice was dry. The salad watery. See a pattern here? Also that signature moist charred taste was just absent. Whilst it could just be a case of followup blues or an off night, I can’t honestly recommend this branch. It’s okay but despite being cheaper than Best Mangal in Kensington, it’s actually priced above local kebabs. No service charge is a nice welcome. If you want to sit, then come here. If you’re getting something on the go, there are plenty of others. PS. This Mangal(which I’ve discovered means Barbecue) is NOT affiliated with the Best Mangal in West Kensington. Mystery solved!

Yum! Reasonably priced for great food and generous portions. We tried the Chicken Kebap and the Chicken Kofte. Both were juicy and tender and delicious over the fluffy rice. Great for take-away but they have a area to dine in as well.

One of the best Turkish restaurants in London. The lamb-shish and also the chicken-shish are amazing, the hot and cold meze dishes are mouth-watering, and everything comes with warm turkish bread a big serving of fresh and tasty salad. Before you leave, ask for a hot Turkish tea, which comes for free and is usually served with a small portion of Turkish delight. If you are four to six people, try the chef’s kebab plate you won’t regret it! :)

If you’re in the area and your tummy’s feeling rumbly, drop in! They do a great lamb kofte with rice and salad for £6.50. Both the restaurant and the take away appear to be very popular but that doesn’t meant you’re left waiting long. The staff are friendly and efficient. The place is clean and comfortable. And, most importantly, the food is fresh and tasty! Yum! c*

Inexpensive, great service, generous portions. Indeed a rare find in this ever-hip and trendy part of London. This will definitely be a popular stop this summer since we can’t afford to eat Busabathai every night and we have the tiniest kitchen ever.
