Excellent deli and really cool people who run it. Good selection of cheese, nice pies and some more interesting produce with a healthy twist. Would recommend with the caveat that the coffee, although strong and tasty, is not made to barista standard which lets it down.

Beamish & McGlue are up the road from me. I have literally been walking passed this quirky and cute looking shop for the past 4 months without going in. Well today, I changed my mind and went it to get lunch — mainly because the sign in front of the door said they had salad. Our conversation went like this: — Hi, I would like a salad please. What do you have? — Whatever you want, I can put various deli things in with the lettuce. Sun dried tomatoes, goats cheese. Do you like Balsamico? — I love Balsamico. — I like you already. And the salad was actually amazing. And since I saw that he had some REAL and good Gruyeres cheese, I decided to go home with some of that as well. Friendly, good products, local. Who could ask for more?

So lucky to have this deli round the corner from my flat. Carries a great range of cheeses, the goats cheese is a particular favourite. Wide range of local and ethical foods, both fresh and store cupboard. Also does great coffee, so you can pick up a flat white for your journey home!

Got a sourdough loaf for breaky earlier. Pretty tasty toasted. Nice place — full to the rafters with ‘fancy’ groceries, hams cheeses etc. Coffee smells good. They have locally-brewed Brixton Beer, and the person serving me was very friendly too

Popped in just to browse and received a cheerful welcome. Didn’t have what I needed but bought a rather yummy flapjack for morning tea instead! Would recommend a visit… and the flapjacks!

Cakes are delicious! Can’t say I’ve ever had any probs with staff being rude. Costs more than the supermarkets, but that is because supermarkets can dictate prices to suppliers rather than pay what something is actually worth(did you know roughly 1 farmer in the UK commits suicide every week, driven out of business by the power of supermarket pricing??) Enough said. Support local business!

Great concept, grumpy staff and sandwiches a bit rubbish. Will still go now and again because you can sit outside.

I use this little shop — but it is tre expensive. Coffee can be hit andmiss. I do however continue to patronise th shop as I it would be a shame for it to close down.

I always had mixed feelings about this place. They have nice food, good selection of organic products and cakes. Though I don’t find the staff very friendly. I tried to engage them but maybe it was late or the wrong day anyway. worth a look if you are in the area.

Very good litle local organic food shop. Good coffee. Foodstuffs of good quality, but a little expensive(but I suppose eveything labelled organic is!). However, I would encourage people to patronise Beamish So it doesn’t close down! They do sell great cakes made by local people!

Can a place with a name this good ever be bad? Ask yourself this question. Answer yourself this answer: «No.» Good job. Beamish and McGlue is a lovely little place run by a very nice, garrulous, but not overly talkative man. They have a nice selection of organic items, including many scrumptious homemade jams. I purchased some lovely organic cranberry sauce here for a Thanksgiving meal. They also have the most delicious looking cakes you’ve seen in your entire history of being. Albert Einstein went there with me one day and he turned to me and said, «Well gee, if those cakes don’t look like the most beautiful specimens of matter ever, I’m going to stop writing equations.» Blueberry Mascarpone, Carrot Cake, heaven in circular form. Their croissants are also a golden brown flaky perfection. This place is a great little local business and I give it four hurrahs under the guise of stars. It’s slightly pricey, but its a small business and thus justified in such matters. Having this place just a few blocks away from my work bus stop makes the day that much brighter, just like cupcakes with lots of butter cream frosting.

I didn’t expect to find a delicatessen this good in West Norwood of all places but Beamish and McGlues brightens up the high street with it’s pretty exterior and outstanding food. The owners are local couple Antonia and Casey(Beamish and McGlue respectively) and they sell a wide selection of cheeses and hams as well as organic and seasonal fruit and veg. They also serve up a delicious coffee and fresh homemade cakes which, if you can endure the sound of busy Norwood Road, you can take outside and onto the seating area on the street.
