I used to love Gap and Banana Republic which is their more upscale brand. Sadly now it is a bit of a shadow of what it was, it just does not have that original creative magic and quality. The clothes are fine, but feel like they are just ticking boxes, not original or unique. I could buy there but would not be as gratifying as other places that are more with it. The final thing was how both shop ladies on each floor, said hello like they were probably told to, but in this cold, tinny way. They are okay, or maybe fine, but compared to others, is that enough?

I don’t like bananas, but Banana Republic is a-ok! I don’t know when this big, shiny store popped up on Long Acre but I can’t imagine it’s been there too long. It seems they’re turning Covent Garden into yet another shopping hub with an interesting mix of lower and higher-end highstreet stores popping up everywhere. For example, this Banana Republic shares a street with stores including Reiss, Calvin Klein, Whistles, Hobbs, Jigsaw, Gap, H&M and Next. Anyway, the store is set out on 3 floors: it’s big, it’s bright, it’s your typical chain store really. The staff in this particular branch were friendly and helpful. Banana Republic clothes are pretty bland and inoffensive but they’re a handy stop for basic, plain items to jazz up yourself with accessories. The clothes are also of a much better quality than when you shop for the same basic items elsewhere. It’s a bit like Gap, only a slightly higher-end version. I only own one item of Banana Republic clothing so I can’t yet comment on whether the quality is as good as it seems, however I do like the fact that the sizes seem to come up bigger(are USA sizes typically this way? I don’t know). It makes me feel great buying something a size smaller than usual! Vain, I know, but who cares! I’ll be back!
