My husband and I ate here for lunch one day while on our honeymoon. I liked the ambiance of the place and the service was friendly, however, the price of the food was pretty high considering it wasn’t amazing, but just okay. I got the spaghetti, my husband ordered the chicken parmesan, but they brought him a chicken marsala, which he wasn’t happy about, but ate it anyway. He didn’t love his either.

Food was good, in a busy area in London surrounded by bars and restaurants. Unfortunately, service was a failure. Our appetizers came quickly and then our main courses(nothing extraordinary, just a couple of pasta dishes) arrived almost an hour later. They forgot our order. They served us some extra focaccia while we waited and watched the servers and host rush about the restaurant back and forth, it was a bit odd I’m sure the mishap was a one time issue, the manager came and apologized, the food was not bad. Don’t think I would come again though

I’m giving them one extra star as their service is welcoming and very efficient. The food as you may have guessed is a bit of a downer. They are right in the middle of West End and boast of a number of diverse small plates/tapas that sound quite exciting. The place looked touristy, but we were hungry, so decided to hedge our bets. I stuck to a small portion of the veggie lasagna that our server recommended from the vegetarian pasta options. The husband opted for mussels in garlic sauce and the baked aubergine with cheese. The aubergine was pretty much tasteless and there was a big piece of almost-raw tomato in the center(no mention of that in the menu!). I didn’t try the mussels, but hubby commented they weren’t fresh and the sauce too watery & lacked any real flavor. Very few restaurants serve veg lasagna so I was hoping my dish would redeem itself, and honestly it wasn’t bad… I can’t say it was made from scratch or was really delicious. It was clearly heated up & brought out and the pasta was on the drier side… but among the three tapas, it was the better one. Overall, the food is distinctly below average, but the service is top notch. Our server made sure we were well taken care of during the meal and that elevated this sub par experience.

I had the goats cheese ravioli which was really good, but my husband had the pennette arrabbiata and that was extremely amazing! We also got cheesecake for dessert which was perfect size and really creamy! We will def be back here! Also had very fast service!

Well, the Unilocal map is off — like a mile off, no where near the actual location and as is typical London weather, it was raining cats and dogs. Eventually, with the help of numerous hotel doormen, we found the near-empty restaurant in the theatre district. Bringing the incorrect map to the attention of its young, Italian-accented manager, he had no clue what Unilocal was. REALLY??? Dim lighting make the menu very difficult to read. The waitress spoke English — barely with a Slavic accent. Service was efficient. The meatballs were great, ordering scallops brought a plate of one small scallop, six mussels and calamari rings.

Following our colleagues lead, we found ourselves entering Assaggetti for an italian meal for lunch in the heart of London and close to the Piccadily Circus tube station. From the time we arrive to the time we left, it was a real treat. It was late lunch so wasn’t too crowded and the atmosphere was laid back and service was top notch. Now the food, great selections and nice portions. We opted for the meatballs, steak, sausage, soup and pizza. Prices range from about 3£-17£ which we thought was good value for being in London. All were very delicious with everyone being completely satisfied. I wouldn’t hesitate to visit again. Give it a try sure you will enjoy!

This place is brilliant. Picture your local Spanish tapas restaurant with all the little dishes. Now change the food to Italian and that is this place. Small Little portions of Italian sausage, cold meats, risottos, pastas, king prawns, meat balls the list goes on and on. the prices are very reasonable considering its a stones throw from Piccadilly its about £5 for a tapas dish or if you want it as a big mains it’s about £12−15. The staff are very helpful and the venue is clean and tidy. I will defo be going back.

I have never left a review on Unilocal before, but after having lunch at this place today, I felt like I owed it to the restaurant goers of London… Staff were fine, I had nothing against them, but the food on the other hand was some of the worst bits I’ve had for a long time and it has left my girlfriend and I feeling rather unwell for the rest of the day. We only ordered a few bites, but I wanted to just point out that the calamari and pâté that showed up was from a different world, and not in a good way! It showed up 2 minutes after ordering it, which shows at least that the service is quick, but it tasted all sorts of wrong and looked even worse. You would think that being located in Haymarket, the theatre district of London, they would need to have a higher standard, but they really don’t! Unless they up their game a bit, I foresee this restaurant being closed in the near future. I for one will not be going back!

The tapas concept applied to italian food, what else is needed to say? This place serves a huge variety of italian dishes in two options: the normal restaurant size portion and a tapas portion for c.£5. I have been here with a friend and we tried a lot of the tapas plates and I must say they were all good, from the fish dishes to the risotto. there are also pizzas available. The menu includes standard traditional stuff like lasagne as well as more sophisticated things, like tuscan salami and fish plates. they also have a very nice wine list with decent prices and a promotion for 2×1 prosecco as aperitivo. the staff is nice and the place is big with a lot of light. a very nice option for a relaxed evening

We choice this restaurant as a pretheater restaurant. So we didn’t expected anymore about this restaurant. But Our idea was betrayed. This restaurant was very good. It’s very rare to meet the pasta served as al dente in all of the world exclude in Italy and Japan. Raw ham and salami was very good. We recommend this restaurant to any body.

A distinctly average restaurant. Which is such a shame as it all started off so well. We entered the doors to a beautiful chandelier striding atop a wide spiral staircase, with food products to buy adorned all around the walls promising quality produce. Our waiter greeted us in Italian and showed us to our table. He conversed with fellow Italians on the way. So we thought the food must be good, if Italians eat here! I had the set meal. My starter looked amazing but was less than bland. No seasoning, but it didn’t help when I added it. It wasn’t horrible, it was just boring. Oh we’ll, on to the main. Pizzertinna — uncooked base and what looked like cheese from a can. No taste, bland again. I tried to smother it in the beautiful balsamic glaze provided on each table, but because of the small board the pizza arrived on it dripped all over the table. Most annoying. The panna cotta was next –not sure about the jam on top, but it tasted ok. Nothing was bad, but nothing was amazing and the prices are a bit steep. I felt cheated– we had lots of restaurants to choose from around there, and we had gone out for something special. I feel like good marketing and an interior decorator blindsided us. Poor show!

My sister and I had planned to go to Planet Hollywood for an early supper before a play, but they wanted to seat us in the upstairs overflow area(despite an almost empty main dining room) so we walked out and looked for somewhere else. I think I have been here before for coffee and dessert and remembered that it was quite nice, so in we trotted to a beautiful upstairs dining room.(There’s also a very nice, cavernous downstairs dining area too). Our waitress was lovely. She explained the tapas style menu and got us our drinks very quickly with a huge jug of tap water, which I really appreciate. She alerted my sister to the fact that there was a «two for the price of one» prosecco deal on and made sure that she did get her second glass later on. My sister ordered from the set menu and to start, she had the baked aubergine(no mention in the menu of the lump of tomato and unidentified cheese that it contains!) It was a bit greasy and not absolutely brilliant. I went a la carte, and had the calamari fritti to start — really rubbery texture, but the taste was lovely and made up for it. As a main my sister had the ricotta and spinach pizzatina and I went for the spag bol. Neither were amazing — the pizzatina was tasteless and my spag bol was ok(they use a much thicker spaghetti and it’s a bit unwieldily) but it was a tiny portion. I had to ask if this was indeed the £10 version or just the small tapas plate… For dessert we had the panna cotta(a little sour) and the tiramisu(a bit sweet) so they sort of balanced out! We took advantage of the Unilocal Check in deal of a free coffee — after the manager had stood for several minutes with my iPhone, pressing all sorts of buttons and humming and hawing about whether he could accept the deal. I almost gave up on it completely — and it wouldn’t have mattered if I had, as the coffee was cold and fairly tasteless. However, the little plastic wrapped biscotti that came with it was absolutely delicious! The final niggle came with the bill. The set menu is £12.25, but in order to put each course through the till to the kitchen, they assign 1p to it. So, the set menu actually costs £12.29. Now, I know that’s only 4p more, and I wasn’t worried about the actual amount at all, but the principle seems wrong. Especially as the waiter assured me that he had alerted ‘Head Office’ several times and that customers did keep complaining about it. Poor show! So, the staff were lovely, rushed off their feet and fighting fires all over the place, but I wouldn’t return — the food just wasn’t good enough and it seems like it needs a stronger manager to sort out some of the issues.

Don’t let them sucker you with ‘would you like olives and bread?” right when you sit down… it’s not free, it was actually $ 10 which was a bit annoying. We both had the 3 dish tapas menu for $ 20; it was ok, I had calamari, chicken and tiramisu. The tiramisu was the highlight of the meal. Everything else was just food on a plate; including the bread/olives. The olives were old and soft(that’s what she said).

Food was excellent, love the tapas style. Can’t go wrong with the pizzettine, calamari and the potato gnocchetti and Gorgonzola was the best. Food comes out very fast. Servers very efficient.

Food was really good, except the portions were quite small. I didn’t expect tapas-style Italian fare so the portions left me wanting more. But the service was great so I’m giving it 4 stars. While it wasn’t an entirely family friendly restaurant, the wait staff were very accommodating and friendly to our kids. All of us even had treats at the end of our meal!

This was a very disappointing meal. I had noticed this restaurant located next to the Cineworld at Haymarket several times earlier. But it was only recently that I got around to trying it out. I was alone. I checked in. I saw a pop up advertising a Unilocal deal. A free cup of coffee if I order a dessert from their menu. It wasn’t a great deal, but something is better than nothing … or so I thought. I ordered a starter and a big portion(as opposed to the small one) of spaghetti bolognaise for the main course. When the food arrived, I was really confused. Did I order the small portion by mistake? Surely the quantity couldn’t be this little when they were charging almost £10 for it. But they did, as I found out from the bill at the end. The food itself was quite ordinary. It wasn’t very bad but it wasn’t anything to remember. The wine was ok. I wanted a dessert. But they refused to honour the deal, saying that they had no knowledge of it. I paid £20 and left … Hungry and pissed.

Our expectations were low as we were in tourist hell(bottom bit of Haymarket) and were eager to get out of the rain so rushing into any establishment that looked half decent. These lowish expectations were dashed immediately. The welcome was genuine, décor pleasant and the vibe relaxed. Assaggetti serves what a previous reviewer has described as Italian tapas and this pretty much covers it. The complimentary green olives(huge) and parmigiano were yummy and my beer was served with a wonderfully chilled glass(great attention to detail). We tried Calamari fritti, King prawns, Pizzettine with proscuitto and rocket plus tiramisu. All delish. We cleaned our plates. Throughout, service was memorable for all the right reasons friendly and professional. We’d definitely go back.

Veeerrry Nice! A good place to come for a great lunch. Even if it is located in tourist hell at the lower end of Haymarket. The concept is just like Spanish tapas but with Italian food. Which works great since very often the best parts of an Italian mean is the Anti-Pasti. We had a good table, and the service was quick and friendly. Between three people you need around 7 or 10 plates to fill you up but most are priced between 3.50 and 5.50(for a half portion) so even that is pretty good value. Lunch for 3 business colleagues, including small desserts, coffee and wine was about £70. Molto Bene!

Aamzing! I walked past the place a few times and I finally took my friends there. It’s Italian tapas, essentially very nice collection of startes of all types, nicely priced, and of top quality. It was 5 of us and we ordered perhaps too much food, but it was worth it. With around £20 you leave feeling very satisfied. Everything from the gorgeous olives to the mini pizzas, wine and desserts are of impeccable quality. Very nice, cute and friendly staff; cool interiors too. A definite must!
