The window display is brilliant… totally check it out… those vintage airline chairs. *where* did they get those? Bruna at Alfie’s Market, you say? Awesome. Inside, the décor is a hodgepodge of antique 40’s suitcases and odd modern mini silver alcoves in which the shoes are displayed — the vibe is reminiscent of All Saints — sort of urban industrial glam. Ash really excels at having flat shoes that don’t look like what everyone else has gotten at Topshop or the other High Street Stores. Their evening shoes are also really good… both chic and curiously comfortable. I have a black pair of satin stilettos that I’ve somehow managed to wear rather contentedly during entire nights out. Plus, everything’s really well-made and of exceptionally high quality… their entire stock is made in Italy. The staff is really friendly and welcoming… they even know a lot of their customers’ names and will bend over backwards to help them out if there’s ever a problem. P. S. Full disclosure on the window display accolades… my sister was the visual consultant for their autumn/winter display.

Well the boys have their collectable and unique trainers, a bit of a silly hobby if you ask me, and now they have unique trainers for women by Ash. Where else have you seen snake skin, or patent leather, or fur lined trainers? They are almost like a formal trainers. Their boots are pretty badass too. If I didn’t already have a closet full of shoes that is the bane of my boyfriends life I would be stocking up. Of course they are ultra expensive but than any good shoe usually is. Besides all of their shoes have a cute little name like Uma, or Winona, or Trump, Lipstick & Kiss. Who can resist that?

For quite some time I just admired Ash shoes in different department stores and wondered how amazing it would be to see their entire collection. I tried even google the label but I was not able to find any information about they having any shop in London. So one day when I walked by this shop you can imagine my joy. Maybe the timing wasn’t quite right though as they were having sales and there was not many shoes left. But I am going back right after the next season hits the racks as I am very keen to this new friend of mine. New and interesting shoe brands are hard thing to find.

Ash is a young Italian footwear company specialising in high quality, contemporary design, based on chic Marylebone High Street and more than capable of meeting every gal’s seemingly infinite shoe and boot needs. Having spied a pair of their round-toed stack heel boots — otherwise known as the holy grail of winter footwear — through the windows well before opening time I felt compelled to return to try on these downright irresistible and totally out of my price range beauties. Not only are Ash’s shoes and boots refreshingly free from the arbitrary fashion detailing that ruins so much high street footwear — bringing to mind the invaluable dictum that«fashion detail is style death» — but they’re beautifully made and the shop’s sales staff are like a breath of fresh air. Predictably perhaps, Ash’s luxury footwear doesn’t come cheap, but I’m a firm believer in buying fewer things of higher quality, and if you are too you should definitely visit Ash.
