I’d never heard of this shop, but we happened to wander past on the way to upper street. The main room upstairs is gorgeous, in a slightly dilapidated way! The showroom contains a bit of a mish-mash of different style designs and ideas. There are some nice watches, jewellery and kitchenware if you need to buy a present for someone else… and lots of different styles of furniture if you’re looking to add something a little whimsical to your home. Some things are very expensive, some are a little expensive… but lots of their products look really nice. There are also a few«who-on-earth-would-pay-*that-much*-for-*that*» type items, but meh, different strokes for different folks. There were a couple of items that caught my eye. We’re re-doing our floors at the moment, so I can’t actually buy anything until it is all sorted… but I have a feeling I’ll be back to buy something later.

The best thing about this store is the building. It’s a fabulous old meeting hall, which the owners lovingly restored. Somehow, unfortunately the merchandise just doesn’t belong in it — it kind of clashes with its surroundings. With a contemporary bias, it has one or two cool bits and pieces, but is generally overly stuffed with stuff that doesn’t know whether it’s Arthur or Martha. It looks as though the buyer has chosen something that caught his/her eye from a range and then ordered everything else from the same supplier, without a discerning eye. I’m probably the wrong customer, but I’d rather have unusual pieces of furniture or homeware in my apartment that I’m not scared of using and aren’t a garish color.

I stumbled across this lovely store when out shopping in Islington, London. Trying to find the perfect wedding gift for a couple of friends of mine(owners of everything!) I was at loose ends as to what to buy. Aria was the perfect place. Once a music hall and now converted into a beautiful design shop, it stocks everything from contemporary furniture to fashion accessories, lighting, jewellery, bathroom and kitchen wear. The price range is also great, you can easily find something to suit your budget. Aria stock well known brands such as Alessi, Kartell, Iittala and Orla Kiely as well as less known brands and independent designers. As you probably can guess I found the perfect gift for my friends — ceramic Guinea Pig egg cups and ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’ mugs. Something they will defineatly need in the future!

Aria is a gem of a shop with a huge range stuffed(literally) into a beautifully converted building in Islington. The store has great stock, extra helpful staff and best of all it’s not in the West End! Definitely worth a visit to spoil yourself or find that special gift.

This independent store has all the big names that you would find in Heals, Liberty and Selfridges and then a whole lot more. I love it because it saves a trip into town and the service is fantastic. Prepare yourself: there is a lot of product on display! But I can pretty much guarantee you will find the perfect gift. I particularly love the mushroom night lamps and luxury toiletries downstairs. Alongside the huge selection of gift items there is something for every room in the design lovers’ house… From the practical to the ridiculous, from fashion accessories and small kitchen items to full-on modern lighting and über chic contemporary furniture. This is a must visit store that offers much more than you would ever expect and something for every budget.

I used to stop by Aria all the time when it on Upper St. It’s a lovely place to browse and look at all sorts of designer(but still affordable) house wares. There’s nothing special here that you can’t find anywhere else, but it’s still fun to look around. But the real reason to go to Aria is the jewelry. They don’t stock a lot but it used to be that everything was done by local UK designers. Small names that you won’t likely find in many other places(though sometimes you can meet them at jewelry shows). When we went shopping for unusual contemporary wedding rings this was the first place I came. We ended up getting a cool matching(but not samey) pair of silver rings by Rakhi Kapila. Everyone always comments on how cool the rings are.

When I discovered Aria hidden on the side street just off Upper Street, I was thrilled. This is my kind of store. You get art décor furniture, pictures, watches, kitchen ware, loads of unusual housewares, handbags and cases, candles and holders, books etc etc. You must take a look there is so much to see in this super large store. It reminds me of some of the modern décor shops I have browsed in Europe. This is a great store to find that unusual gift or something unique looking for your home. You will find something you like here if you are at all into modern stuff. I adore this store!

Aria is a pure lifestyle shop selling everything from coffee table books and leather hand bags to designer chairs and kitchen utensils. Some might say this is a typical ‘design’ shop and it is perhaps a little predictable with the host of design icons it holds but the building itself, just off Upper Street, is an interesting back drop and the shop layout is inviting for a gander. They stock a lot of stuff by big names like Alessi, Kartell, Liberty, Jasper Morrison, and Philippe Starck — but that’s the main problem with the place — there’s not much new and unusual, or that you couldn’t find in Heal’s or The Conran Shop if you’re that way inclined. Currently they have a lot of gifty stuff out as you’d imagine, including plenty of jewellery and winter accessories — and you could probably find a nice present or two if you’re willing to pay quite a bit(it’s not too overpriced, but generally sells quite expensive stuff). There is also a little café bar area tucked in the side with a few chairs, in case it all gets too much — which it easily could. If you want your house to look like a page from Elle Décor then it’s a good option, but personally I’d rather it didn’t.

Aria is a cool shop on Upper Street, Islington that sells very stylish homeware and gifts. It is almost like stepping into the pages of Elle Décor, I love browsing in Aria and mentally redecorating my home. There is everything from designer chairs to mirrors and tables that would be a welcome addition in your home. If your home does not require a stylish touch, Aria is perfect for buying a present. With Christmas jsut around the corner you will certainly find lots of inspiration for gifts.

Well designed homewares and gifts are Aria’s speciality and the new Barnsbury Street shop is an excellent place to have a browse and pick up some Christmas presents. Your kitchen, bathroom and living space can be given a trendy boost in one relatively inexpensive spree. There’s also a little café area where you can have a quick coffee and a cupcake mid-shop.
