Went to Annie’s today for work Christmas lunch. 3 stars feels a bit tight, because the atmosphere and the staff were lovely, but I was quite disappointed by the food, especially as Annie’s food is usually really good. I had the turkey, which came grilled rather than roasted. It was ok, but just felt like any normal restaurant meal. The sides were again ok, a few sprouts, some little pork sausages and a piece of crispy bacon, nothing to write home about. The mash was the highlight of the plate, delicately flavoured with sage. For dessert I chose ‘vanilla bean brulee’. I guess it wasn’t called crème brûlée on purpose, because rather than light and creamy it was thick and heavy. The flavour was good, but the texture was like a homemade mousse. Not my thing.

Annie’s has the key things that make for a great dining experience. It has charming ambiance, a diverse and well-executed menu, and great service. After a long day at work, I trekked down the quiet side of Chiswick to Thames road for a late bite. I was seated upstairs amidst couples and groups of friends, next to a corner fireplace. From this vantage point I could see the entire upstairs dining area. Candles and roses are on every table and the décor is eclectic yet romantic — a love theme. Annie’s shepherds pie(a special on my first visit) and a side of broccoli hit the spot. A few nights later I tried a more basic fish and chips, plus a pear, green bean, and shallot salad. The fish was flakey and battered perfectly — not the sloppy pub stuff you find elsewhere. The salad was refreshing. Finally, I’ve also enjoyed the halloumi burger. It’s thick and well-executed. Substitute sweet potato fries or a vegetable for the chips if you want something a little more nutritious. Despite arriving just before closing time on most of my visits, the staff is always helpful and enthusiastic. Even on cool nights, the heat from the kitchen warms the upstairs, so be ready to de-layer if you’re dressed for the cold. It’s cozy! The love theme extends to your post-meal survey card, which reminds me of Valentine’s cards kids give out in school. Maybe the love theme explains why I fell in love with Annie’s.

I was very disappointed with Annie’s service. So many people recommended me this place, I live locally so finally I took my friend for some quick dinner, fact we didn’t have any reservation but when we came place was empty. We kindly asked if we can have a sit, some of tables had information that they are reserved some not. Host told us that they are fully booked and they are not serving anything now, two other couples were siting there and eating. And he recommended us to go on the other side of street to pub. Normally when someone have willingness to serve you a food they tell you what time is next booking and how much time you have to eat. They are doing everything to keep clients and not telling them to go on the other side of street. There is difference between pub food and restaurant. We felt really unwelcome, which is shame because there are not so many restaurants next to river.

I went here maybe three weeks ago with a few of my friends to celebrate a flat warming. The restaurant itself is situated in the heart of West London in a very quiet neighbourhood surrounded by mostly residential buildings but it appeared that it was moderately busy even in the very early hours of the evening on Saturday. The décor had great style that looked traditionally English — nice place to host a party, especially being so close to the River. There are more seats located above on the second floor. Now, one thing I’ve got to address is the service. On the occasion that I visited two things went wrong. Me, being a Supreme Steak Lover ordered steak and fries with peppercorn sauce. The medium steak I ordered did not come out medium but was as well-done as anything and the peppercorn sauce ended up being something similar to garlic cream cheese that I genuinely believed they mixed up my order with someone else’s. After a few bites, I couldn’t deal with it anymore and complained, which is something I usually don’t do. The management was friendly and apologetic; they even offered to make me another dish free off charge because I had waited so long which I was very grateful for. That being said, I’m going to do the right thing and rate the food on how it was supposed to be and not on what I believed was a mixup(I didn’t actually ask whether it was a mix-up but I conceded that it probably was). The now readily cooked medium-rare steak came out in reasonable time and it was superbly medium-rare, delicious to the core. The fries were A-Grade quality and the peppercorn sauce had just the right amount of Dijon mustard inside to make the consistency nice and thick. My regret is that the staff did not get my order right causing me to wait while my friends ate their food. As a result, I had to hurry with when my food arrived which I do believe made me fuller a lot quicker and therefore detracting away from the positive experience. I’ve no doubt in my mind that if had the staff got my order right, the food would have been shy of a 5 Star-rating. I attach pictures of not just my steak(the«medium-rare» and right one) but also the dishes my friends ordered. Despite the mix-up, I would probably go back.

Annie’s is a Strand On The Green stalwart but we’ve never found ourselves in there before but that changed after I happened to meet the charming manager and asked if he could save us a spot for Sunday Lunch. I stumbled in flanked by the missus and the boy as I was a little unsteady due to a hefty Saturday night. The sun was out, the windows and doors were open and the place was heaving but the effect was totally soothing. Bare brick, lots of flowers and nick-nacks. Really homely. Just what you’d expect from this lovely little corner of London set on one of the most beautiful parts of the river. A beer downed in one to help me read the menu. And the menu was just made for my state. Perfect comfort food. Prawn cocktail to start. One beautiful quality, big, meaty, sweet prawn and lots of crayfish underneath in a not too sickly rose marie sauce. And most important of all, ultra crisp lettuce and lots of it. Followed by roast chicken dinner. Bright veg, unctuous gravy and probably the best roasties I’ve had in one of these roast lunch efforts. They are usually a bit of a disappointment aren’t they? It’s not easy to hide the ills of an old warmed up roastie. But these ones were wonderfully crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. My belly thanked me as the starch kicked in and soaked up the last of yesterday’s transgressions. Pudding? Of course. It’s a hangover. I had a cherry bakewell tart. Mr Kipling makes exceedingly good ones and so do this lot. The boy had a tasty hamburger and chips and the missus had the roast lamb. We shared obvs. The lamb came with excellent home made mint sauce. These are the little touches you want from a great local restaurant. It was all washed down with plenty of wine and lemonade and the bill was shy of £80. Worth every penny. The food is cooked with love and served with joy. But ambience is the real key. Light and airy on a summer’s day. Warm and cosy on a winter’s night. It’s the type of place that’s going to make a nearby resident a regular. Such friendly service and such a well run place. Such pretty surroundings. We’re a couple of miles down the road but we’d cross oceans to come back. Or the Thames at least.

Great little restaurant well hidden in Chiswick but so glad it was recommended by a friend to go eat there! It was one of those crazy, rainy days in London and luckily managed to get a table at Annie’s :) They have a good selection of food on the menu to cater for the meat eaters as well as the vegetarians! Their waiters and waitresses are very friendly and helpful so enjoyed the evening with that part. The food was also delicious, I had the warm Goats cheese salad as a main and that was very yummy! As for dessert… oh…my…God…their Sticky Toffee Pudding is sensational! Fantastic to share as it was well sized! Would definitely recommend this restaurant for friends going out and catching up wanting a place that is unique in its décor and a friendly atmosphere.

My favorite restaurant in London.. a cat lover no less who happens to be the best chef in the city. The chocolate deserts are to die for.. And she keeps a very very hip and fresh menu. Bring you taste buds and good friends Highly recommended! !!!

I haven’t a negative thing to say about Annie’s, hence the 5 stars. The staff is quick, knowledgeable and they always bring a water bowl outside for our lil pup. The food is fresh and delicious. I especially love the seared tuna salad, scallop starter, hallumi and fig salad and their huge Sunday roasts. They have a great wine list and blankets outside for chilly evenings. If it’s a sunny day, have a post lunch wander by the river.

I have one word for my Annie’s experience, and that word is «Yaaaaaaaaas!» Seriously, though, Annie’s parts ways with the myriad mediocre to down right bland options in Chiswick that manage to skate by simply due to location, but I digress. In terms of ambiance, Annie’s is everything! It is off-the-beaten-path on a fairly quiet street that follows the Thames River. The outdoor seating, with rustic wooden chairs and tables, and assorted pillows and blankets, just beckons you into taking a break along the sidewalk with a nice drink and/or tasty dish. The interior is also terribly inviting, with exposed brick walls, and an assortment of wooden tables and chairs, all scattered throughout the very cozy ground floor of a converted, end-of-terrace house. The space is juuuust perfect for a dining room — not too large, not too small. There also appeared to be a dining room on the first floor, as well, but I was more interested in eating than in investigating the space. Oh, and while I’m addressing the space, the very cozy atmosphere carried on into the women’s restroom, a space that was well maintained and surprisingly spacious considering the layout of the ground floor. Anyhow, my husband, daughter, and I went to Annie’s for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon, and we were impressed that the restaurant was still full and bustling along 3:00(read: call to inquire into seating availability before you go; this place seems popular) with people who all appeared to be having a wonderful time over food and drinks that appeared quite appealing. The standard menu was fairly extensive, and I believe that the kitchen was offering(4) daily specials, in addition to a soup of the day. That said, my family and I were left with a number of options in terms of ordering, and the options were all very creative. A kiddie menu was also available. I ordered one of the specials: the perfectly creamy risotto with shaved parmesan, broad beans, spring peas, and some other stuff that I cannot recall, and wow! was it on point! Risotto is a bit of a specialty and ever-loved dish in my home and everything down to the texture and amount of olive oil was perfect. My daughter ordered the kiddie pasta(spaghetti with marinara), which she seemed to enjoy, and my husband helped himself to a decent portion of what she did not finish, leading me to believe that the kids menu pasta was thoroughly suitable for an adult palette, as well. My daughter and I also shared a side order of the Hand Cut Chips, and they were just as crispy, fluffy, and salty as I could have ever wanted them to be. My husband ordered the Potted Dorset Crab, and since there was nary a morsel of anything left on the wooden board on which the dish was served, and since my daughter could not help herself from visiting and revisiting her father’s dish, I’m assuming that the crab dish was a hit. Finally, I ordered a cappuccino and, based on the rest of my experience at Annie’s, I was not at all surprised that the coffee was absolutely memorable. In sum, Annie’s is pretty much spot on, and everything that I’m looking for in a neighborhood restaurant. Very much looking forward to returning, again, soon. I give this spot two thumbs up and jazz hands.

Annie’s could not be any cuter! What a fun little restaurant on the river. I came here for brunch with a friend after an early AM run down the Thames. We were greeted instantly, our food was served quickly and we had a great time admiring the fun décor! We both ordered English breakfast and coffee/juice drinks. Everything was delicious and served quickly. I hear that it gets busy on weekends, so if you can sneak in a lunch or brunch during the week, it’s definitely worth a visit!

Second time here and was disappointed. Service was inconsistent, food was served at different times for our party, burger was good but didn’t have enough portions(ordered 3 had only 2). The sorbet was too sweet and intense. Not going back again

We went to Annie’s on a hot day so it was so nice to be near the river on a balmy evening. We ordered a bottle of Rioja Blanco and the antipasti for 2 wow! The cold meats were great, gorgeous cheese, fresh figs, tomato houmous and slightly garlic flavoured ciabatta slices it was just a perfect starter for a warm evening! For mains, my husband had the burger and I had the tuna steak. Great portions albeit slightly pricey for what it is. All in all a very enjoyable meal!

Annie’s is tucked away in a genteel suburban Chiswick street. I could hardly fault it from start to finish. The place is beautifully appointed, inside and out. The staff are pleasant and helpful, and the menu sounded so good that I struggled to choose. I had a vegetarian Malaysian curry, which was delicious. Perhaps a little on the rich side(almost inevitable for an Asian dish), but brimming with yummy squashes and peppers. My companion plumped for fish and chips, which she found very pleasing. Not the cheapest place in the world, it is genuinely a cut above the rest. Would be a great date venue, but works for any occasion.

Good food, nice menu, lovely(albeit very girly) décor, acceptable service, pleasant atmosphere… But unfortunately on the overpriced side for what you get. I’ve been here twice now and have enjoyed it both times, but always felt that it cost more than it really should have. Disappointed with the very tasty sounding haloumi salad and banoffee pie, but pleased with the tiger shrimp green papaya salad, fish and chips, and the sticky toffee pudding :) Have not yet tried any of their cocktails but instead opted for wine, although the wine list wasn’t anything special. I will be back when I feel like I can dish out a fair bit of cash for a decent London meal out.

Set over 2 floors(Upstairs can be booked for private parties, there’s room for about 50 diners. Food is upmarket British/Mediterranean brasserie — Cod & Chips(massive!!), Ribeye steak, Steak Burger, Risotto all recommended. Try the Rose Petal Champagne apéritif too! Family friendly as well.

A delightful little restaurant situated close to the River in this quiet and gentile part of Chiswick. With British and Mediterranean influences this charming restaurant is eager to please. Friendly and welcoming as much as the décor, the staff are amazingly competent and pleased to see you, something that some restaurants forget. Ideal spot to pop into for a morning coffee after a walk along the river, business lunch, lazy lunch or dinner for a few friends or even a romantic supper for two. A very traditional menu but it is presented so well and with such care — I love it. Shepherd’s pie, rib eye steak, beef and ale pie plus many others make for a fascinating menu and lovely place to be. Having won many awards in London, it is clear that they know what they are doing when it comes to food and hospitality and I for one say it is a wonderful dining experience.

I’m so disappointed! I’ve been eating in Chiswick for 2 years & to think of all the meals that I could have had. This place is wonderful! The service is friendly & personal & it’s like walking into somebody’s parlour, very kitsch & chic. The food was generous, tasty & very well presented. The restaurant was full & I hear it is always that way. It’s a shame more restaurants can’t be as well organised and popular as this.

You cant fail to have a good night here… we always have the same table in the corner by the window. romanticly small with a huge church candlestick to light the table. Staff here always bend into the background so they dont get in the way of a moment! Juicy steak or a annies burger, thai fish cakes and chocolate brownis and ice cream. whatever you choose it will be scrummy. Just book!
