i also feel a bit sorry for this business, especially as i know, when you run your own, how heart-breaking it can be to get a bad review. the food isn’t bad at all. the dal and spinach i had were lovely. as were the chutneys. the samosas and pakoras were a little cold and a bit too oily though. the staff were very friendly and this made up for it :) def go here if you want something cheap and cheerful that comes with chips!

Was lucky enough to be invited here by some friends from Hackney while in London for the week. Extremely underrated and very good value for the money. My girlfriend commented they served the most flavorful Chicken Korma she ever had. The waiters were very accommodating to our party of 12 and even brought complimentary after drinks for our group. Wish I could visit here more often.

This a got to have been the best indian I have had this side of Brick lane, truely great food and service, I was on my own which sometime brings doubts to some restuarants, but not here, anyhow I thought I would see if this old stomach would accept a medium curry with some rice and a couple of popperdom, ok and a nan, ok and some chuckney, and it was great, followed by a bottle of cobra, my stomach suffered it and my wallet suffered a cheap meal, all in all a great place

I always feel sorry for Anglo– Asia. It is only a few doors along from the ever packed-out Rasa, which leaves it taking in the stragglers unfortunate enough not to get a table. I hate walking past and seeing the restaurant empty(the restaurant is really big and the waiters often stand quite close to the windows) so decided to go in and get a takeaway as it was too empty to sit in comfortably. The menu offers the kind of Indian meal that you can’t get in Rasa. It offers up a more Anglicized curry– kormas, cheap chutneys and greasy poppodoms. The food is fine, its just not that great or inspiring. The curries we had were quite bland and the peshwari naan I had was too sickly. The biryanis were good value though– huge portions and came with a good vegetable curry on the side. This place really needs to step up a gear if its going to try and compete with its neighbours.

I had a take-away from here the other day and it was delicious and not expensive. In total we had a lamb biriyani, saag prawn with basmati rice, chicken passanda with plain naan and a peshwari naan and the bill was £20(there’s a take-away discount) Mine was the lamb biriyani and it was gorgeous: tender meat, good flavour and not too oily. The lovely staff also threw in a complementary bottle of kingfisher beer for good measure. Great place, will definitely be going back for more.
