I’m declaring this the best coffee in London (in my 6 months). This place is authentic, part deli, part local market, with plenty of yelling in Italian. The people were friendly and passionate and completely unexpected. I will venture to Angel just to visit this deli and to taste their wonderful coffee again.

I was so hungry when I walked here scanning the walls for the sandwich menu… before I could see it the guy behind the counter suggested a bread + filling combo that had me stuffing my face in less than a couple of minutes.
The enthusiasm and friendliness on display here is infectious, I will definitely pop back in in future to sample more angel ‘DELI’ghts*

Ah, senorina! My favorite words. The Italian guys that work at this shop will transport you back to Italy and warm you with their charm and passion for food.
I just stopped in for a panini to go which was augmented with their freshly made pesto.
They have all kinds of Italian products for sale, sandwiches, hot foods, coffee and a tiramasu that looked divine.
Tables inside and outside and thanks to Lucien H., I am now aware of the garden.
Go for the charm and enjoy the food.

So Angel Deli, or Angelico Deli, is a great Italian sandwich shop. Run by Pierro, the Angelico is just the way a sandwich shop should be, Pierro will make you anything under the sun. He has a real passion for food, and is more than happy to talk about it, and then talk some more. With real Italian cured meats, and fresh ingredients, the way I knew my sandwich was really great was that Pierro had avocado on there that was really ripe, in the dead of winter. A great and much appreciated touch. To those in the know, there is a wonderful little garden out back, which I plan to frequent in the spring with a bottle of wine, a plate of salami, and hopefully some good conversation. Another place I heartily recommend stopping into if you’re a fan of good food and people that put stock in eating well. Just tucked away in Islington, you won’t be disappointed.
