Top Turkish barber shop! Always a full staff, really knowledgeable, professional, and talented blokes. TV in the shop showing sport our some Turkish soap lol. They do all the Turkish stuff: the gooey green wax, hot towels, beating your face with a fireball, etc. Definitely recommend

Are you on the lookout for a proper hot towel shave — Turkish style? — Look no further, because I can recommend Altin Maka in Dalston to you. Altin Makas is a proper Turkish barber — don’t expect anything fancy like you would at barbershops like Murdock, Pall Mall Barbers or Ted’s Grooming Room. This is the equivalent of the foodie hole-in-the-wall: honest, down-to-earth service, without frills. When I entered the shop, I was welcomed by one of the clerks and was asked to sit down. There were about 5 other men already waiting — all of them happily chatting away in their mother tongue — Turkish. And although I could’t participate in their conversation, I tremendously enjoyed this cross-cultural experience. At some point, I was even offered a freshly-brewed cup of çay, which I really appreciated and made the wait worthwhile After a while it was my time and I was seated on the old-fashioned barber chair. My face was then covered with a hot steaming towel, to soften my stubbles and make the shave smoother. Then the usual routine followed and I simply laid back and enjoyed the procedure. I seriously am contemplating on doing this more often… I’m so lazy when it comes to shaving and this is really a wonderful compromise. And all that for only 7 quid. Highly recommend!
* not sure if they take reservation, so I simply suggest showing up and bringing a good book * they use a new blade for each new customer * I didn’t like the after shave they applied after the shave… it’s musky-lemony — maybe the quintessential smell for a Turkish macho man ;-) * I found out about this place from this video:
