Third Aesop shop I’ve visited(apart from the Liberty stockist — where I would not recommend going. The Sales lady was unwelcoming. I almost got the impression she didn’t want to be there.) But back to this particular store. Cute, little Aesop store with the most comfortable arm chair I shop-sat… Welcoming warm tea, attention, samples. Brilliant! I love their philosophy, service, interior designers and products endlessly! Everyone goes on about the price, but to be honest, I think their products have really good value… Maybe it’s too long since I was using Boots cosmetics and thought John Frieda Hair care is great. But their minimalistic and highly concentrated ingredients guarantee using just a very small amount, yet still delivering a really powerful result. Plus the bottles come in fairly generous sizes. This weekend I bought volumising shampoo. I can only say: OMG!!! Is it the best volumising shampoo I have ever used? Yes, it is! Doesn’t dry or misbalance your hair, holds the volume even the following day & smells gorgeously the whole day. Wow! In fact, my date that evening didn’t want to smell my perfume, but my shampoo.

I love natural products and try to go as natural as possible, even going so far as to at times make my products at home DIY style. I’ve heard good things about the products so thought i’d pop after a trip to Borough Market. The staff were so friendly and really walked me through their line of products, history and core values as a brand. I walked away with a ton of samples which i’m going to try to today. Overall of an experience was great, nice people, from what i could tell good products. Simple.

A new Aesop just opened up over the road from my office in Soho and I was grudgingly won over when they gave me a freebie at the opening event; a 60ml pot of Camellia Nut Facial Hydration Cream(that’s moisturiser to you and me) which, unfortunately, turned out to be the best thing I’ve ever allowed to touch my face. Having been extolling the virtues of this wonder product to my sceptical friend, and dodging raindrops with a broken brollie during a Saturday afternoon in the market, we sought refuge in the Borough branch this weekend. I felt rather sorry for the nice lady assistant; she looked bored out of her mind and was obviously delighted to receive potential customers. She cheerfully answered our questions, provided samples despite us not having asked for them and made no attempt at irritating sales speak, even when we headed back out into the rain empty-handed. I’m going to describe the décor as «spartan nautical»; an empty room with bleached floorboards and a massive pile of rope in the corner. The few products on display are barely noticeable on the pristine shelves over the deliberately distressed sinks. It’s all a bit try-hard for me(and I find the«apothecary» label more pretentious than charming) but the most irritating part is that the sales staff are friendly and the products actually do the bloody job. They’re also pretty pricey, though, so I’ve not yet succumbed to the hand cream(although having cracked into the free sample and watched as it transformed my dry, wintery knuckles into beacons of buttery softness, I can see that I’m fighting a losing battle). I don’t want to like this place but I can’t help it. My head says no but my eczema says yes.
