I guess I would consider the Adam & Eve my local… it’s certainly the pub in my neighborhood that I’ve been to the most. As Homerton grows, more and more restaurants and pubs are opening, and Adam & Eve had done a good job of keeping up with the changing neighborhood without completely losing it’s local pub feel. I’ve been to Adam & Eve for a few different occasions… dinner and catchup with friends, date-drinks, and mostly to watch rugby. Adam & Eve is great for watching sports. They have lots of seating, TVs placed conveniently around the pub, and enough bar staff so you don’t have to wait too long for a pint. The clientele are a fairly chill bunch, and the staff, although sometimes a bit kooky and hungover(?), are attentive and friendly. Other than orders of chips, I’ve only eaten at Adam & Eve a couple of times, and although I wouldn’t call the food award-winning…it was certainly tasty and I’d be happy to eat there again. A friend swears by their Sunday roasts… although I have yet to give them a try. There is a big garden for when the weather is nice, plus pool tables(that are always full).

This place is a strange one for me as this was my local long before it was refurbished and ushered in the new clientele. It was a traditional locals’ pub which I mostly used for watching football and playing pool. There was some concern that the refurb and rebranding would basically oust the regulars but the new management did a good job at engaging with us about what we wanted. They kept the pool tables and the football and seem to have retained most of the regulars at the same time as increasing numbers among what you might call Hackney’s newer arrivals. Good work. The pub itself is old, large, friendly and has a great outdoor space which is particularly nice in the summer. It’s quite a young pub in general(and gets lively on Friday and Saturday nights) but plenty of families on Saturday/Sunday afternoons as well as your older gents in suits. The addition of the food is excellent and they have various food offers on different nights of the week. Drink prices are noticeably higher since the rebranding as you might expect, but there’s now a much better range of beers to choose from and decent prices during happy hour. Bar service is a bit erratic at times — the bar is semi-circular and it’s not uncommon to find all of the bar staff serving on one side while you wait on the other — but you can forgive this as all-in-all it’s a top pub.

We had heard such great things about this place and we love good beer. Arrived and stood at the near empty bar. Bar staff managed to ignore me and serve others. Another couple arrived at the bar and they to were ignored in favour of other customers. Well fuck you with you stupid beards and lumber Jack shirts. If you cannot run a bar properly then I hope you fail. Currently enjoying a Siren pint in the pub over the road The Jackdaw and Star. Served as we walked in, with a friendly smile, as it should be.

This pub really has character. To describe the ambience… It had elevator music, more than enough room and a snooker table like nothing I’ve ever seen before. It has a right angle in it!!! The beer was decent. Nice range. The food looked good. I didn’t get a chance to try it sadly. Maybe next time. Which there will be. Generally a really nice spot. Definitely try it if you’re in the area. I mean. Elevator music!!! Kind of amazing.

Fairly good range of beers(mainly in fridge), eg local bottles from Five Points, Pressure Drop etc as well as US beers such as Lagunitas. Happy hour is generous and kitchen menu is good(usually impressed by Cornwall Project produce) but the onglet tonight was so tough — didn’t know it was possible to cook that cut so it was so chewy(was supposed to be rare…) ?? Not sure if I’d come back for food again…

I’m endlessly confused about this place. Lots of people think it’s wicked but unfortunately I live in Homerton so I am mostly surrounded by cunts all of the time and it’s hard to get an objective opinion by someone who’s not wearing a fucking hat. Straight up it is a really good size and has the kind of decorative stained glass windows that I would steal if I knew how to do that OR had anywhere to put them once I got them home but unfortunately now I’m just going to have to bust out a quick shortlist of reasons why this place is the magnetic north for the kind of people who are still at your house party at 4am talking about politics to teenage girls and trying to play babyshambles on an acoustic guitar: — the staff clearly love the stone roses in a non ironic way. Unrelatedly, one of them is always VERYBUSY wearing his hat. Do not try to speak to him while he is wearing his hat. If he stops thinking about his important hat then people WILL die. — Also they can’t pour a glass of wine to save their fucking life. They use one of those dickhead silver measuring devices but they still can’t chuck it into a glass without spilling it all over the bar. Probably because they’re so unapologetically rock n roll I guess. Come on you chinless motherfuckers! You live in Europe. It is not that fucking hard. — my friend Graham’s steak was quite bullshit apparently — flat cider — I think they kicked out an old pissed up guy for being drunk and singing songs. To be fair though he had neither a hat or a haircut that could comfortably form it’s own Strokes tribute band so I do understand that he was killing the massive vibe. — anyway I’m bored of talking about it now. Give it a try if you like good people watching, slow service and slightly higher than average prices. Or don’t, I’m not your fucking mum.

I went to this pub with my friends who live near by but had not tried this place before. It is large on the inside with a warm feeling to it. It has a couple of pool tables including the L shaped table which is rare. They have a good line up of beers including Sam Adams a personal favourite. We had lunch there. They have a specials menu and a regular one. The food took a while to come but was well worth the wait. I had the burger as it is a good test of a pubs food. Was the best burger I have had in a while. Jucy plenty of flavour large and good quality beef pattie with decent fresh bap. Everyone was very happy with their food. Also had chocolate tart for pudding rich and good. My friends have a baby boy who joined us and promptly fell asleep. Plenty of space for his buggy in the area we were sitting in round the back. We were there on a Saturday and it is the sort of place you go on a rainy day and forget about everything. We were there most of the afternoon. Basically a hidden gem but a bit out of my normal stomping ground.

Good atmosphere. Huge, with lots of seating and a patio area. Allright beer, a bit pricey for my taste, but its probably not top refined either. The Sunday roast looked mouthwatering, although I didn’t taste it myself. They show Premiership matches on multiple screens, although not matches shown on SkySports. Overall worth a visit.

This is a lovely looking old pub but my Greene King IPA was ruddy awful. Just about drinkable at best. My mouth was not the only orifice under assault as there was a barrage of bad music violating my ears(the best song I heard was the Wee Pappa Girl Rappers, which at least took me back some years!). Went for a wee(rule) and had an encounter in the bogs with a chap who was drying his hands on his dog. He made sure to inform me that he was not drying them on his dog’s penis. No conversation at all would have been better.
