Abyssinia Ethiopian Restaurant

This is a hidden gem! The owner apparently has passion in his food. And the flavors were unlike anything I’ve ever tasted before. If this is how authentic Ethiopian food tastes like– I wanna go there! U must try the zegni qey wot with Injera bread-​delicioso!

I’ve had dinner here on two occasions. Firstly it has to be said that if you want your food to arrive quickly and to be out the door within an hour of arriving this probably isn’t the place to go, once ordered the food does take about 45 mins to arrive. There are plenty of places where you can get that kind of quick service anyway. You should go here if you want to experience some incredibly tasty food and to eat it off authentic fermented ethiopian pancake which has a kind of lemony zesty flavour. I’ve had some wondrously tender cuts of really flavoursome beef here unlike anything I’ve tried before. The different dishes are poured onto the communal pancake (see photo) which then absorbs flavours from the dishes and becomes a dish in it’s own right. The meal was punctuated on both occasions by one of the owners roasting the coffee before our very eyes and wafting the delightful smell of some incense about the place. You won’t be disappointed after the food arrives I promise you, it’s best to come in a group of four so you can split a bunch of dishes between you and all chip in to get one man-​size pancake between you.
