Yummmyyyy fried noodles, pancake and kimchi pork belly! So good. Cozy. Recommend reservations. A little on the pricy side, but the food was very good!

okonomiaki is a typical japanese street food made with eggs and flour and some other ingredients of your choice like mushroom, shrimps, meat at this restaurant the dinner table is where they cook it! they cook everything in front of you and it is really nice also to see other food they cook(like dessert!) nothing posh, but very nice staff also and prices are quite low!

It’s nice, but my expectations were a little higher. Ordered the tokyo mix and the omu-soba, the Tokyo mix was pretty standard, but I’m not sure if I liked the omu-soba since it had some hot bits and other bits cold. Hmm maybe it’s supposed to be like that. Still, if you like okonomiyaki Abeno is probably a safe option.

Came here yesterday afternoon for a late lunch. Lunch special was still available when I came in so I ordered the lunch combo with tokyo mix(pork, shrimp and squid) okonomiyaki with the daily side dish and miso soup. The side dish they had was gyoza with avocado and tofu filling. It’s my first time having avocado gyoza and I’m not sure if I liked that taste… It seems a very odd combination to me Now for the main course of the meal: okonomiyaki. The server brings the mix to your table and makes it on the grill in front of you. It’s pbbly a fun thing to watch for most ppl but I’ve seen it quite a few times before and made okonomiyaki on my own as well. The portion was smaller than expected but oh well it’s london. The okonomiyaki tasted pretty good(okonomiyaki sauce and japanese mayo combined makes everything tastes good), quite authentic. I do wish there could be a little more shrimp in it.

Went there just after our visit to British Museum. Not fully-authentic Japanese food but I believe it suits westerner’s stomach. We ordered combo meal with Tokyo talk and London yaki. Overall they were very delicious but a bit expensive.

Eh. Stopped by here because we thought we’d grab a quick snack after heading out from the British Museum. Boy were we wrong. We were told that it would be 10 – 20 minutes but nope. We waited there for 35 minutes until we got our ONE okonomiyaki. Now if it was a good okonomiyaki, maybe I’d give it some slack but really there was nothing special about it. They were frugal about the toppings, it was soggy and there were barely and pieces of pork belly in it. Okonomiyaki is one of the easiest things to make and somehow they’ve managed to make it average. Oh and they charged an outrageous amount for one tiny little piece — about the size of my hand.

This was the first time I had okonomiyaki. This was a very pleasant place to eat at and the wait staff was simply amazing. They cook the food in front of you so you get first hand experience on the process of which it is made. It was a fun experience. I would definitely try to make reservations if you can, but if you don’t be prepared to wait as it could take some time to get seated. We got lucky that when we got there, a table had just opened up and we just barely got there before a couple of other groups.

We have a group of 9 people visited the on Saturday noon when they opened at 12pm, and they are famous for the signature one, which I cannot remember the name, but the waitress will always help you to make it perfect and all you have to do is eat hahah I actually ordered the Nola noodle which is fried noodle with pork and it comes fast. Some of my other friends also have fried rice and the taste was good

Three of us went there. We were seated fairly quickly. The place is cosy and not too crowded. This the first time I have eaten okonomiyaki. I ordered the Abeno special. If you are in a rush forget it. The special is cooked by the chief at your table and takes time to put the tasty masterpiece together. The staff is very friendly and the whole experience is top notch with one exception. One person in our group ordered yakisoba and it was presented to us almost cold.(The reason for the one star deduction.) the meal was a bit expensive but you get to see the chief create the okonomiyaki.

I had never had okonmiyaki before, but I am glad I got to try it. It is a custom made omelette style pancake, and I had mine with tofu. They cook it on the hibachi in front of you and you can top it with certain sauces and bonito flakes if you wish. I really enjoyed it. I was also quite happy to see they had a sparkling sake which I enjoy but is very hard to find. Service was good and friendly, and the meal was reasonably priced(especially for London). A definite recommend if you are in London.

Fairly out of the ordinary. However, at first, I just didn’t know if I meant«out of the ordinary» in a negative or complimentary sense. Yes, it is Japanese food. Yes, it it was tasty. So I suppose the criteria was met. If you do not know what they serve here, the best way I can describe the Okonomiyaki style dinner is like a custom-made omelette/pancake with any of the ingredients that you should wish to include. Best of all, it is cooked at your table! It certainly adds to the entertainment. However, if like me you are perpetually hungry, the tantalising smells and sites that emanate from in front of you while you are required to summon all of your internal patients to hold on for just a few minutes more for it to cook — agonising! Once it is cooked, they provide it with your option of sauce or not. I went with the sauce. It was tremendous. So all in all a great experience in this small but refined restaurant. Make sure you put aside the time to dine here, it is definitely not a grab and go type place. It was not too expensive either, fairly reasonable. If you want something different. While you are out and about in this part of town, go kit check it out. I’m sure you will not be disappointed.

As an American Gringo who lived in Japan for a while(4 years), I’ve been on the hunt for a good okonmiyaki, as I travel the non-Japan world. THISISIT! The food is yummy, the service traditional Japanese — very polite! If you have any gastronomical curiosity, you have to give these folks a shot. Highly recommended, and I’m tough to please.

Oh Abeno, Abeno… You are simply an amazing dining experience! Unique, unequivocally delicious, full of flavour, creative ingredients and so much fun to watch being made right at your table. If you have never had Okonomiyaki, basically, well, um… ok, it’s kind of like a big Japanese omelet that is fried up on a grill at your table. You can choose from a load of different options — I had the London which has pork, bacon, cheese and salmon in it(I added corn ‘cuz I loooove sweet corn!) Hubby had the Tokyo with squid and prawns in it. Then they bring your ingredients to the table in a bowl, crack and egg in it, whip it up and then start to fry it on the table… it takes about 15 minutes to cook, then when it is done, a sweet bbq(ish) sauce along with a Japanese mayo is swirled on, topped with seaweed powder and those fish flakes that come alive when sprinkled on anything hot. Viola! And the best part, you eat it right off the hot grill, so every bite to the very end it hot, crispy and as delicious as the first bit. I can’t wait to go back again. Thanks so much Mr Alex S for taking us to such an amazing restaurant experience.

Japanese BBQ at its finest. Prices are reasonable — you can fill up on amazing food for £15 if you order properly. Their okonomi-yaki is out of this world. Pop the noodles on top for an extra £4.50 and order super deluxe size, and you’ll be full for two days on just £15.50 if you order the pork version. Staff is very friendly and responsive, always smiling. The ambiance is nice enough, and it’s not so loud as there are only a handful of tables. This one is preferable to the same shop over by Seven Sisters, as this one takes reservations. Don’t try same-night, however, as they’re tough to get less than a day out.

Okonomiyaki. Full stop. I hadn’t heard of the dish before stumbling into this hidden gem just a few steps from the British museum but worth giving it a try. The service was very good and the food was quality.

Uh oooh… another new food love. I feel I need to start frequenting oxygen bars instead of restaurants… They would be so much better for the waistline. Okonomo-yaki. A kind of Japanese pancake. Of sorts. Made out batter, cabbage and onions as a base, with fillings of your choice added. I got a ‘London special’(when in Rome, ye know!) with salmon, bacon, pork(mixed into the batter), and cheese. There’s a hot plate in the middle of the table(I guess they get made by the same dude who makes the Korean BBQ tables!) and a staff member comes over and makes the pancakes right there in front of you. There’s a bit of ceremony to it so it’s a seriously fun way of eating lunch. You get a &*$%load of sauces then to go on top — chili, Japanese mayo, shredded seaweed etc. All artfully placed by your star waiter. To wash down all that savoury goodness, I got an apricot juice. An. Apricot. Juice. A juice. Made out of apricots! Ok not quite. I just wanted to get you excited. It was some type soda water with an apricot down at the bottom which had completely flavoured the drink. There may have been some sugar added too as it was pretty sweet, but goddamit, it was so refreshing I did not want it to end. The pancakes come in two sizes — delux and super delux. I was absolutely stuffed to the brim after the delux, so the super is probably for the hardcore amongst us. Or those who want to eat it again later on(which I so would!) As far as I’m aware, you need to make reservations for this one, although it was relatively quiet when I was there. So there you have it. Another five star review. Sure where would ye get it!

Abeno is one of my favourite places to eat in London. Handsdown. In a city still trying to develop it’s food culture(Yes, London does meat pies and Sunday Roast really really well, but an English cuisine that’s not pub food is sometimes hard to come by. It’s working on it though), it’s nice to take a bit from everywhere else. And London is a melting pot of amazing food from throughout the world. One of the best? Abeno, who does okonomi-yaki, or a Japanese pancake created on a grill at your table. This one is very similar to their second location, Abeno Too. Here though, you need to make a reservation instead of just walking in and they don’t have the long rectangular table/grill in the middle of the room. Beyond that though, same amazing food, same amazing place. Pick your ingredients. You can’t go wrong with something like the London Mix, which includes salmon, bacon, cheese and pork. They put it all together with a flour batter and cabbage and other fun surprises and grill it up. Mmm. Once it looks like a pancake, they cover it with delicious sauces(asking you first if you want it) and then you eat. Yes. Turns out they also have a nice lunch special. Basic okonomi-yaki with soup and a special side for £13. Boom. It’s slow. Be prepared for a long meal. Slow to get your ingredients together, slow to cook, slow. But it just makes you want it so much more. Oh my yes. There are other options but I never go with the, It’s okonomi-yaki ir okonomi-nothing for me.

Das also vielleicht bedenken.

Excellent !!!
