Watch out I went to A P Food Express a couple of years ago and got ripped off! I was in the Charring Cross area of central London and wanted to grab a sandwich for lunch. Unfortunately, I didn’t have any cash on me and the cashpoint at Embankment Station was out of order so I popped into the nearest shop, which was AP Food Express to buy some lunch. The staff in the shop informed me that there was a minimum spend if I wanted to pay by credit or debit card(which was fair enough, as a lot of small independent convenience stores and supermarkets do this due to card processing fees). So I ended up grabbing some products that I didn’t really need, just to pass the card payment threshold the total was around £7. At the checkout, I put my card in the chip & pin machine and entered my pin, however, the shop assistant told me there was a problem and it didn’t go through, so I tried again, but still he said there was a problem with the payment and we needed to try a third time. I got a bit worried at this point but the member of staff assured me that the payment definitely hadn’t gone, so I entered my pin a third time and was finally told the payment was taken successfully this time, so I left the shop with my goods and thought no more of it until I saw my bank statement which showed the payment was taken from my account three times! So I ended up paying over £20 for basically a sandwich and a soft drink! I contacted my bank and they suggested I go back to A P Food Express and get them to refund the two additional payments. So I made my way from North West London to this corner shop but the staff were totally disinterested and at first claimed I was wrong, even though I had my bank statement showing they had deducted payment three times for an identical amount. Every time a customer came to the till, I had to wait for them to be served before the shop assistant would continue talking to me. In the end he said I would have to speak to his boss who would be at A P Food Express at a particular time the following day. So the next day, I again made the trip all the way from NW London only to be told that the boss wasn’t coming in today. I got angry at this point so they said they would take my phone number and get the manager/owner to phone me, but he never even called. In the end I got so fed up that I gave up, so AP Food & Wine profited from this so called mistake. I’m now not so sure it was a mistake and think it was some kind of scam. I wonder how many other people they have done this to. If I were you, I wouldn’t bother shopping at A P Food Express as they cannot be trusted!
