10500 Hairdressers

This is my first ever review on Unilocal– and I’m proud to say it goes to Magda.
I was really apprehensive as I had just had a bad experience with another salon close by changing my hair from white blonde to brown. I wanted to change back and I know it can be a difficult process but she had been recommended by a friend.
The owner, Magda took me in for a quickly booked free consult told me I could go as blonde as I wanted as they use very special colour products that don’t damage your hair. We’ve all heard that before, but I trusted her.
I went to my appointment a few days later, all the staff were really friendly and even being early I didn’t have to wait.
The colour process was long I will admit– but that is normal when changing from a dark colour to the colour I was before which was almost white blonde! And my hair also being really fine, has to be done slowly incase of breakage I guess. Another major concern for me– I worry my hair is gonna fall out from the bleach haha!
Eventually I was ready, my hair platinum blonde with no orange streaks and my hair feeling amazingly healthy and strong! I was so impressed.
It was now closing time for them, and me being the demanding type I am, painfully asked if I could have a hair cut too, I hadn’t booked it but Magda did it with no complaints and did an amazing cut for me, which I’m also picky about as I have short hair.
She did everything I asked without trying to make me too trendy as some stylists do.
Yes it’s pricey, but totally worth it! Thank you Magda, you took my bad hair day away in one day!

New to the area, I made my first visit to 10 500 salon yesterday (Sat 9 April), for a wash and blow dry. A simple service, but one that I’ve had so many salons get wrong. From the moment we were welcomed by the flamboyant receptionist who demanded that we open our Kurt Geiger shopping bags and show off our new shoe purchases, I knew I was going to love this salon. The design is as quirky as the staff, it’s cool but not at all intimidating, and the atmosphere is one of fun, chilled out relaxation. I had a fantastic blow dry and great chats with Darrin, and was treated to the salon’s own recipe Bloody Mary which took the edge off my slight Saturday hangover… all in all a great experience. I’ll be back.

Would not recommend, I have been going for a year now, but over the last 3 months service has got sloppy — very unhappy with my lop-​sided hair cut. I was asked to come 30 minutes early 2 hours ahead of the appointment, and then left to wait for 15 minutes when I arrived at the earlier time, then I was also handed to another stylist mid way through my appointment so that my original stylist could cut her mum’s hair instead! My cut was rushed because the next client had arrived becaue they started late (their fault not mine!), and my stylist was being yelled at by the receptionist repeatedy remiding her that the next client was there so she had to hurry up. I was not happy with the cut, but could clearly see there was no more time to put it right! When I complained about the cut I was made to feel awful, and even accused of being malicious! I agreed with the receptionist I would not pay for the cut, only to find out they used my debit card details to take the payment the next day without my consentthat’s fraud in my book, and I will not be returning — try Kell Skott on Golborne Road instead for complimentary wine and a fabulous head massage!

Have been looking for a special hairdresser’s in London and have finally found one. I had my hair cut here and loved it! My stylist was very quick but she knew what she was doing. I told her I’m growing my hair so didn’t want too much taken off the length, and she didn’t (unlike most hairdressers) but instead just put loads of layers into a good style. I normally hate having people wash my hair but the guy that did it was great and I actually enjoyed it. Will definitely be going back for cut and colour in July!
