During our day of castle-hunting, our last stop was Carreg Cennen Castle — unfortunately the castle closes at 4pm and we were there at 5pm. After spending a while taking pictures from afar, we debated on the merit of driving to Cardiff for dinner on our way back to London or find somewhere to eat on the way to save time. We came across Cennen Arms, a pub still open right down hill from the castle and as we were pretty hungry we stopped here for food. When we got in, we were in for a little nice surprise: the dining area had a view of the castle! However, the rest of the pub was just really pubby and their menu is somewhat typically British pub food with tourist prices. Most of the dishes like chicken or steak were all over 12 quid or more and some up to 25 quid. We ordered a beef stragnoff and fried cod, both of which you can choose chips, potatoes without jacket, or jacket potato. My boyfriend got rice with the beef stragnoff while i got the cod with jacket potatoe. The dressings such has mayo and tartar sauce are on the table in heinz packets. The beef stragnoff was bland and the portion small for almost 9 quid but the cod was fried to perfection and came with a small salad, peas, and the potato for about 9 quid as well. Overall the food was decent, the service was good, and there was free wifi and a good view. I would stop you from eating here if you needed bite and didnt want to drive far.
