This Yates offers a large amount of space inside being designed in a circular way, but pretty limited in terms of seating. The times I’ve been to this Yates it has always been rammed and seems to certianly draw in the crowds on Fridays and Saturdays as a popular pre-drink and even main destination for a night out. Generally the atmosphere is quite loud and pretty animated — it certainly isn’t the place for a quiet drink and a chat in the evenings, however it’s decent enough for a cheap lunch, usually running a two for £7ish deal on during the days. All in all a seemingly average destination that blends into the monotonous stream of weatherspoons/lloyds kind of bars and is benefitted most by its cheap drinks and central locations as there are better and more character filled destinations for a drink in Liverpool.

I was once puzzled when asked for directions by a young professional to «Yaah tays.» I shook my head and moved on but passed Yates’s a few minutes later and the penny dropped. It’s not posh, it’s Yates’s and it’s dirt cheap, although the surroundings are pleasant they are samey. Yates’s is a dangerous place, with Echo Falls wine available all day every day for £4.95 a bottle there is a chance that you can get paraletic quickly and for a price beyond cheap. A friend left the bar minus shoes without informing the other she was leaving she’d had that much to drink(so be responsible with it!) Not a place I would choose to spend a night as it is ridiculously packed in the evenings, however, if you want cheap and drunken, then perhaps not a bad place to start.

If I’m ever feeling bogged down or just need that quick rest bite, I would see Yates’s wine lodge as the place to chill. There’s something about the place that’s soothing when you enter the double doors plus when there’s a live football match showing, the bar/restaurant comes alive. TV screens are echoed throughout both floors adding to the mood. It does tend to get pushed for space during peak times but that’s what makes this the bar it is. The food and prices in general are nothing to scream about, but adequate to say the least. I would class this as an above average bar so pop down here with your mates and feel the buzz because you’re worth it!
