Being in high spirits after a beautiful walk through Sefton Park, I stopped in The Moon and Pea hoping to continue the vibe. I wasn’t in any way disappointed but I also wasn’t overly impressed. I had the Posh Fish & Chips and it was fine. Again, nothing great and nothing terrible. Music selection was good but too loud and the wait staff were friendly when they were attentive. I’m not sure I’ll be back. It’s just one of those places I’ll catalogue as a possibility. But I’ll certainly explore other places before I return.

I went into the Moon & Pea Deli the other day for the first time in ages and to be honest all previous times I had just been darting in to buy a quick sandwich on the way to Sefton Park. This time round I was buying goodies to put into a picnic hamper that a friend and I had bought for another friend’s birthday. It was a proper old fashioned, whicker hamper, complete with plates, knives and forks, little gingham knapkins, the lot so we knew the bits and bobs inside it would need to match up. I decided that a visit to the Moon & Pea Deli was on the cards… I made the right decision! I was able to put together a collection of gorgeous goodies including homemade scones to go with the raspberry & vanilla jam and clotted cream and red onion marmalade to go with the beautiful cheeses and crackers that I chose. The lady in there was so helpful and let me have samples of the cheeses on offer so I could make my decision. She also made lovely labels to go on the wrapping for the cheeses and the little brown bags that the two teas I chose went in. When we put everything into the hamper it looked absolutely lovely and our friend was completely delighted so thank you Moon & Pea Deli… you helped to make one birthday girl very happy!

The Moon & Pea is located in the heart Liverpool’s oh-so-bohemian Lark Lane, and has become arguably the most talked-about eatery in the whole area. Its success is obvious, as more often than not it is fully populated throughout the week. On the third or fourth time of asking, I was finally able to procure a table, and, even after this long wait, I was not disappointed. The menu is impressively diverse, and has pretty much everyone covered. For some reason, I was under the impression that the Moon & Pea was a vegetarian eatery, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that carnivores were catered for alongside veggies and vegans. I ordered the cumberland sausage baguette, and was impressed by the quality and value for money. The service is very good, and the staff seem genuinely pleased to see you, which I know is no mean feat when working in the service community. In fact, I was so impressed by their friendless that I didn’t begrudge tipping them about 20%, which, being somewhat tight(read: British) in that department, surely tells its own story. The food is good, the staff are nice, and the prices are right. In other words, belive the hype.

The Moon and Pea is a hidden gem in Liverpool. The staff were so lovely and welcoming. The décor is quirky and dressed like your auntie’s living room. People were just standing around waiting for seats to be free and with a whole road of empty restaurants it was clear that there was something special about this place. There’s such a large choice of food on the menu which is all homemade. We went for the broccoli and stilton soup which was divine and came out hot and pretty quickly and then opted for a caramel cheesecake which was mind-blowing. The prices are so reasonable for such quality. Definitely will be coming back!

The Moon and Pea is something of a Liverpool institution and I always enjoy my visits here. As soon as you step in the place hits you as being very quirky and eclectic, which is right up my street. It’s got a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and is always full of a whole variety of people from all walks of life. The food doesn’t disappoint either. No matter what time of day you come here, there’s something to tempt you. I especially view this place as somewhere for breakfast and lunch but you may see it differently — the evening menu is equally as delicious. My personal favourite is to pop here for an American breakfast with a glass of fresh orange juice and a cup of coffee. If it’s a bit later in the day the«Pimped Up» hot chocolate is a must! The food is mostly(if not all) local produce which is always a bonus. They don’t sell alcohol here but you can bring your own for a fee. Personally, I usually don’t bother as the soft drinks they offer are interesting and unique. Sarsaparilla, anyone? One negative is that it can take a little while to actually get your food. Now, this doesn’t really bother me as it’s the type of place where you feel comfortable and relaxed and it’s nice to just kick back and enjoy yourself but I know that some people see it a little differently. My only other problem is that it is always, always, packed. Now, this could also be seen as a good thing as it shows just how great this place is… but it can mean a long, long, wait even at the best of times. Making it worse is that the waiting area isn’t big enough to accommodate for the demand. This is the sole reason I don’t give this review a full five stars — everything else about The Moon and Pea would deserve it. Overall it is a fantastic café/restaurant and highly recommended. The food is delicious and there is a large range to choose from, with the drinks menu being equally as interesting and quirky. There’s always a good crowd and the staff are friendly and helpful. This type of place IS Lark Lane… in fact, it IS Liverpool. If you don’t mind the long wait then you’ll be hard pushed to find a cooler hangout.

I absolutely love the Moon and Pea, and I think it’s safe to say I’m a regular as I’ve been 3 times and planning my next visit! On every occasion I have been I’ve had excellent food at a very reasonable price. If you go on a Sunday evening, you can get a 3 course meal for under £13. As well as this, they have a guy who comes in and does an acoustic set which is perfect for a Sunday evening wind-down with a coffee after your meal. My favourites from the menu are: the seafood platter, the prawn cocktail, the roast lamb dinner, the swordfish skewers and the steak. Best of all are the desserts — they are incredible! This is one of my favourite places on Lark Lane =)

Visited the Moon and the Pea on a recent trip to Liverpool with my husband. Love the relaxed hippy vibe along Lark lane and thought the Moon and the Pea looked the most inviting out of all the eateries down there. The place had a real friendly/homely feel about it and we were greeted with a warm welcome. The place was packed but this didn’t affect the laid back atmosphere and everyone was happily tucking into their meals. We ordered the seafood platter to start and weren’t disappointed. The calamari was so lovely and crispy and the prawns were extremely succulent. They were also very generous with their portions, there was more than enough smoked salmon for the two of us, overall a very impressive dish. For our mains I ordered the swordfish kebab which was massive and came with loads of sides such as rice, salad and coleslaw and my husband ordered the Hawaiian burger which looked very good. The chunky chips melted in the mouth. We also took advantage of the bring your own wine which with only 3 pound corkage makes the price of a meal out very reasonable. The only reason I haven’t given the Moon and the Pea 5 stars is because we had a very long wait for our main course. However the atmosphere was so nice it didn’t spoil our evening at all. Can’t wait for our next visit to Lark Lane to sample their delicious food again.

I decided to take a little trip back home and see some family and friends. An old work friend took a long lunch with me to show me Lark Lane, a road out of the centre filled with cute bistros and independent shops full of nicknacks. We tried The Moon and Pea, a great little café filled with leather chairs and a relaxed, rustic vibe. Most of all, we went at 1.30pm and it was packed! Now that is a sign to me that the place was worth trying out. We grabbed the last table near the counter and I enjoyed a simple prawn and marie rose sandwich with some chips on the side. I knew I would like the meal when it arrived — full king prawns(shelled) in handmade marie rose on a crusty seeded bread(which I love) and a side of thick handcut chips that had a really nice coating on. My friend had a huge salad filled with all sorts of seafood goodies and looked to be thoroughly enjoying herself. The price was also great(although I didn’t pay — not because I’m thrifty of course(!) but my friend treated me as a late birthday present, bless her!) and all in all a really lovely atmosphere. Slight hiccough at the end of the meal when we were approached by a homeless man in the café asking for money. Now I have no problem with that, but personally I’m not convinced the staff should have let him in to frankly start harrassing customers. An oversight that I will forgive though for great company and some super lunchtime food :)

Beautiful atmosphere. Excellent service. Lovely food. Great menu and prices. I agree with the other reviews that the service isn’t hugely speedy but if you want instant food go to McDonalds. They cook fresh food which is why it takes time. I’d recommend booking in advance. It’s quite small and from what I can tell its very popular!

Quality comes with a price This place is great, mouthwatering menu, great veggie options, great staff, great ambience, I try and visit this place at least once a month, it would’ve been a regular place to eat with friends and family, shame i dont live in Liverpool.

I love the Moon and Pea, and I love the Moon and Pea Deli. I want to live in a corner. May I please? Everything here is delicious from the sandwiches to the salads to the cheese and the olives, to the tea and the coffee. You absolutely cannot go wrong buying your food here. And if you’re concerned about the source of your food, this place stocks mainly organic products as well as locally grown and made foods like cheeses and breads. It’s amazing. :)

Oh yes. The sister to The Moon and Pea café, the Deli is a tiny store that sells organic and local produce by local farmers and artisan businesses. I didn’t recognize most of the brands they sold but I was pleasantly surprised by the selection of fresh cheeses, hams and pates available from the busy counter. They also had some lovely looking olives, artichokes, crackers, oat cakes, chutneys and jams for sale. As we all know, I’m not a fan of the coffee but the ice-cream is something else altogether. Next time, I might even go for a double scoop.

The Moon and Pea is situated in the heart of the busy Lark Lane. It popped up out of nowhere so me and some friends decided to check it out. The night we went in there was only another table there besides us, so the service was quick, very friendly, helpful and generally excellent. The food is not cheap here but it is reasonably priced. It was extremely tasty and the portions were generous. The food was delivered to our table in good time after we ordered and the staff were keen to ensure that we were happy with our food. The Moon and Pea does not serve alcohol but they allow you to bring your own wine, which we did. We popped to the bargain booze down the road and came back with an ample supply of inexpensive wine, which was better than paying normal restaurant prices.

With its cutesy-poo name and swarms of knick-knackery adorning the tables, the Moon and Pea may just be a bit too twee for its own good. This is more the place to bring a date, especially if she’s a fan of happiness and pictures of dogs wearing clothes or kittens in a shoe. I came here with three other fellers in what must have looked like the most grotesque double date in history. The service was pretty rubbish, with the waiter failing to see us even when we started signalling with an SOS lantern. To be fair, I think he was waiting for one of our party to return but he should have at least checked. When the food eventually came though it was delicious and, to date, remains the only meal I’ve ever bought that satisfied me completely. It was like they’d somehow measured my stomach capacity beforehand without my knowing. Actually no, because that’s just creepy.

As I live in close proximity to both The Moon and Pea restaurant and its baby deli, I’m in Moon and Pea heaven. Whenever I want some delicious goodies I just saunter down the road and purchase myself stuffed olives(I’m an absolute olive fanatic and these are incredible). They also do great specialist teas and coffees, at very reasonable prices. Their ethics are also delectable as they offer mostly organic produce sourced from local distributors. With several parks nearby, the Moon and Pea deli is savvy as it offers a picnic service: you can select your own hamper full of goodies and take it away to eat in the sunshine.

Mmm. I love a good deli, and Moon and the Pea Deli surpasses good. Crammed into a little cubby like a mini larder that I wish I could call my own, it’s full to the brim with specialist cheeses and meats, pates and preserves, huge jars of takeaway teas and coffees, stuffed olives galore and as they put it «lots of other gorgeous stuff». They’re right too! My favourite thing about this deli, is that they have a picnic hamper service, so if you’re trying to impress a special someone, then this picnic would be To Die For, especially as you’re only a hop, skip and a jump away from the picturesque Sefton Park… ooh, and they also do b-e-a-utiful looking ice-cream cones so it’s a perfect little place to get those extra-spesh essentials and not-so-essentials that make life taste darn good!

Like its big sister, The Moon and Pea restaurant just over the road, the deli specialises in organic, local produce and from small internet distributors but all served with a great big smile — sorry that was cheesy but The Moon and Pea’s friendly ethos is very catching. For anyone who has tried the simple, gorgeous food from the restaurant you can now buy many of their products here at the deli, take them home and impress your mates by pretending that you get your food off a farmer because you don’t jusy believe in organic food, you live organic food.

I first visited the moon and pea by accident one time. We were planning to visit Jamaican me hungry but it was closed so we went here instead and we didn’t regret it! The first time we went everyone had a burger, which is really yummy. I had the tempura prawns for starters with a chilli sauce which was so delicious. We also went with a party of 8 for a friend’s 21st and the staff were so friendly and accomodating. They put balloons on the birthday girl’s chair, then brought the cake out for us and wished her happy birthday. I had the penne with spinach and ricotta which was also super delicious and filling! The moon and pea is great — they charge £3 for each bottle of wine you have though for corkage.

The Moon and Pea has impressive décor and a wonderful atmosphere inside. The menu is quite diverse and contains ‘interesting’ food which isn’t bland or run of the mill and would have something for everyone. There are a couple of places where it falls down. The café(although it does advertise this to be fair) is very slow, and it took a very long time to get served and to get food. This is NOT the place to go if you are in a rush as you will be there for quite some time if you include eating and paying the bill. However if you are in no rush and want to come here with the sunday papers, then this is ideal.
