The Inglenook is situated a short distance from the bohemian quirky Lark Lane area and you would therefore think that it would fit in to this area. Sadly this is definitely not the case. The Inglenook is a bit of an eyesore, looking more like a portacabin than a pub. Being kind I could call it retro, but it’s just plain outdated and really rather grotty looking. Inside the image prevails. It’s rather outdated and a bit 80’s, again not in a good way at all. It looks like it needs stripping down and starting again. Good points? Well the bar is well stocked and inexpensive. The staff are friendly and helpful. But there are much better pubs in the area.

From the mass of evidence, I always assumed that pubs situated near parks were just inherently lovely, like it was against the law for them to be any other way. The Inglenook, sat across the road from the scruffy charm of Prince’s Park, is a disappointment in this respect and has now ruined all my graphs. Damn it. Looking like the forgotten outdoor classroom of some troublesome 70s comprehensive, the building isn’t much to look at. Inside, the feeling of misery and desolation makes your tongue fizzle. The bar is a huge hunk of dark wood that drains light from the room and the only redeemable aspect was that the never-been-washed smell is great for establishing nostalgia for a forgotten past. Coming here took me back to days of childhood, when all pubs seemed like dank cathedrals of pointless melancholy. The Inglenook, in all its tact and grace, has brought that sensation rushing back.

Famously used by local white rap hero Riuven in one of his YouTube videos, the Inglenook is a great local pub for a few pints and a meal. Although from the outside it looks like it should be in the middle of a caravan park somewhere in Prestatyn, inside its a nice little place with a decent atmosphere and good beers and food. They have a full bar with loads of variety in spirits, a few draught beers and bitters, some house wines and a selection of bottled beers. They serve food every day, ranging from burgers and fish and chips to pies and other gastro pub classics. The food and drinks are of average pub prices and won’t break the bank if you choose to take the family here for their Sunday lunch! The service is quick and friendly and the clientele are easygoing and well tempered!
