Another great place to go when you have the munchies is Onion Deli. A neighbourhood deli and coffee shop, it’s open morning til late afternoon and gets busy at lunchtimes with locals and workers queing up for their hale and hearty fare. Alongside fresh sandwiches and salads, they sell lovely homemade soups, stews, chillis and cakes. There’s also a small but promising selection of organic and high quality olive oils, vinegars, marinades, sauces, anti-pastis and jams. A wonderful addition to the area and a great place to grab a snack on the go.

Onion is a good quality deli and coffee shop which is a refreshing change to some of the cafes and sandwich bars which inhabit the city of Liverpool. This place has a touch of sophistication and provides great food and service to the customers who walk through its doors. What I like here is that this place manages to keep it simple whilst still having a touch of class and hitting the spot every time. Onion is a great place to relax with a coffee and take some time out and this is due to the fantastic ambience. On the whole a good solid establishment which really punches well above its weight and with great results.

Yum, I love a good deli and this place is no exception. Onion has a really quaint interior, with shelves of yummy food goodies which really catch a hungry person’s eye. As an olive fan I thought theirs were very reasonably priced and delicious. I took them home in a nice little jar which looked lovely in my kitchen. If I’m ordering in, the atmosphere in here is relaxing. They do a lovely arrangement of cakes and a great selection of teas. There’s nothing in here that makes me think this deli has the edge above others I’ve visited, but it’s still a great business. A lovely place to stumble upon when you’re a mite peckish!

The Onion is a cute little deli/coffee shop/café based on Aigburth Road just near Lark Lane and 5 minutes from the city centre. They serve really good food here and their menu differs from all the greasy spoons that litter Aigburth Road, so they’re a healthy alternative for a takeout lunch or even a take home tea! Their specials are great, they do a great homemade chilli con carne, they have a gorgeous Moroccan spiced carrot soup and tender fresh roast ham for their sandwiches. They also do great cakes, I especially like their pear and ginger cake, but they also do a delicious homemade Victoria sponge. They stock a range of organic squashes, pastas, olives, oils and roasted vegetables in jars. This is standard in most delis, but they are a real friendly bunch and there is no snobbery like you get in some of these places!
