Town at 3am: Where the streets are paved with squashed potato. Chips, I mean proper chips, the kind you used to have to share with siblings, cousins and uncles on a windswept British beach in Julys that felt like Novembers have never really appealed to me. Back in childhood they were amazing. Nowadays, all I can think of is how the outside is the only bit of the chip that seems to have been cooked. Mr Chips is very popular from the outside, when people pause from beating each other up to sample the fine spuddy goodness. Despite this, the fact chips litter the pavement make me wonder why everybody wants to get rid of them. Then I tried some and found out. Fries are better. You can fit more of them in your mouth at a given time.

I hopped in to Mr. Chips earlier this morning(as quiet as it was) at 11.30am. This was actually my first ever time at this eat-in/take-away popular fast-food shop. Located in Bold Street, Mr. Chips is believed to be one of the most popular and best of chip shops in town. I ordered a small tray of cheese and chips for £1.90 which took about 5 minutes to wait but I’m not going to complain as the food was cooked fresh and hot. The guy who served me was chatty and shared a few jokes with me. After all, it was only me being served and still early in the day. Apparently they close very late at night, till the early hours of the morning on most days. It does look like one of those grubby places, giving me that greasy impression but more importantly the food and service was good. I would probably go back again to try more food on their menu, though there’s nothing special about it — mainly kebabs, fish ‘n’ chips, pies etc. This place is satisfying for a quick and cheap lunch.

Even the best of us have eaten some kind of fast food that we would never touch during the day on a night out in Liverpool. The familiar groan when you wake up and remember queuing for that greasy kebab or large big mac and fry’s is heard across many halls of residence and shared flats across the city on a friday morning. However for those of us that graced Mr Chip’s virtuous floor last night; all have a self satisfied grin on ours faces. Mr chips serves the best chips in town and the staff have nerves of steal to deal with the queues of intoxicated patrons and still manage to do so with a smile on there faces! With extremely reasonable prices and large portions, Mr Chips is one of the best fast food outlets to serve concert square. Whether or not you would dare to venture there during the hours of daylight is up too you. Personally I would rather not spoil the illusion. My pick — Cheese Chips and Ketchup.

Mr Chips is the best place in the world to go for chips, garlic mayo and cheese after a night out in Liverpool. It’s full of weird and wonderful(and very drunk) people after a night out! It serves really traditional chips, big chunky greasy chips — what more could you want? The staff are really friendly and won’t judge you no matter how intoxicated you are! I must admit, I’ve never been in there whilst sober, but the food is that good when drunk, surely it can’t be that bad when sober? If anyone has eaten in here sober, let me know, I’m intruiged!

I’m not a regular at Mr Chips, as I feel a bit guilty. You see, it’s nextdoor to Pizza Pronto, and that is where my allegiance lies if on Bold Street. Obviously, overall I’m a Shiraz girl, but if I find myself to hungry to walk up the hill, Pronto will do. A similar effect occurs when on a night out with a large group of people — you find half go to the left and half to the right. However, Mr Chips is a good takeaway — I don’t go elsewhere because of any negative reason, just because I believe in being faithful to one chippy. Not a remarkable amount of difference to all the other chippies, Mr Chips offers the usual range of fast food and competitive prices. I guess it’s up to you whether you want to go to the left or the right…

The best Chippy in Liverpool _I dont know which I like more the Chips or the people you meet in Mr chips after a night out in Liverpool. Definately the place to go after a few drinks. Proper Traditional Greasy chips always served with a big Smile(and a dollop of Mayo!)
