this is an excellent pub, its LOCAL and its great, especially at weekends, its also lovely in the week, the staff and food are great, they have great music, some weekends they put a great singer on, they have ‘play your cards right’ and it is great value for money. cos its local, its local people and they are all lovely, they also have people who come from miles around and since we’v been going regular, we’v noticed they have been back numerous times :-))))) I rate this 5 stars as its well run, you have a great laugh and the DJ is great and he’s a good singer as well and he gets the people enjoying them selves. Go and have a drink and see for yourself. families are welcome and they actually DO make you welcome, you don’t get much of that anymore do you

Name aside, I’m not sure just how this pub was inspired by the Emerald Isle. It serves Guinness of course but everywhere does. The barmaid didn’t have an Oirish lilt and the music leaking from the speakers was heavy on the old Macy Gray. It seemed about as Irish as Che Guevara riding a camel. Nevertheless, McGinty’s is a decent tavern that has been around for a number of years, despite what you may think looking around the immaculate interior. They must have fantastic cleaners. Bookshelves, cheap ale and old watercolours depicting Liverpool pubs give it a veneer of being a traditional old boozer although not that long ago it was probably a phone shop.
