This branch of Lidl is a large store, situated at the top of town near to the Royal Liverpool Hospital. It has the benefit of having its own car park on site which is free to use. Everything here is inexpensive and they have a great range of items on sale. The range is not as extensive as supermarkets such as Asda and Tesco, but it is an excellent place for picking up bits and pieces. The store is always very busy and there are long queues at the tills, but the staff are still friendly and cheerful when you would expect them to be stressed and grumpy.

God bless Lidl, one of only a handful of supermarkets that manages to make even Aldi look like Harrods. A huge aircraft hangar filled with supplies for the impending apocalypse, the store does a great job of dispensing inscrutable brands on a public who can’t be doing with all the faffery of recognisable companies or ingredients. And why should they? At Lidl you can spend a sliver of what you would anywhere else and the only downside is that your Irn Bru will be spelled ‘Iron Brew’, which I actually might just reclassify as an improvement.

As with all of Lidl’s stores, you will always find a bargain in the London Road branch. Its stock is ever changing which can make it difficult to shop there regularly as you can never guarantee that the fresh vegetables and meat will be the same every time you go. However on the whole you will usually be able to substitute for something similar if you can’t find exactly what you want. This store can be very busy in the evenings and they seem to be permanently understaffed causing long queues at the checkouts. This can make it a frustrating experience. Make sure you remember to take bags with you! Lidl charge for shopping bags now and it can be frustrating to have to buy new ones every time you shop there! I for one have a massive stack of their bags in my kitchen which I am forever forgetting to use.
