One of the few takeaway places I’d actually recommend going to in the daylight hours, this branch of Hot ‘n’ Tender is just like its Smithdown cousin except not irredeemably crappy. The times I’ve come here are mostly times after getting off the bus into town without having had any tea and realising that if I don’t eat something soon the drinks I’m about to have will scorch my gullet backwards within the hour. The very fact that I’ve eaten here sober and not thought ‘God I need to be hammered to enjoy this’ is a feather in the cap of this pleasant chicken-meat provider. The cheapskate-targeting meal deals are another one. That’s more cap feathers than Yankee Doodle!

Hot ‘N’ Tender is a KFC style take-away/eat-in that sells southern fried chicken — soul food closest to its best for Liverpool anyway. As well as chicken, they sell kebabs, pizzas and burgers too, so it is much more than a copycat version of KFC. In fact, I think their chicken is just as good as KFC. Plus, other meals and side oders such as their jacket potatoes are also worth a try. Prices are quite reasonable which is a bonus. The service is efficient most of the times I have been there even when it is at a busy lunch time, staff deal with customers well.

Hot n Tender chicken is not quite what it says on the tin even if the prices are pretty good value and the service pretty quick. The food itself is not great if I’m honest and it mirrors many of the other below par establishments which are dotted around the central area of Liverpool. The thing is here that as I have said before if you are on a drunken night out you are unlikely to complain and will find it adequate enough to fill up your drunken belly. The staff are pretty quick to get everyone served and it’s not a bad place to sit and quickly munch down your food just don’t stay too long as at night this place fills up fast. If you are a student I bet you will fast become a fan here simply because of its value they do student meals deals and are generally pretty cheap as it goes. On the whole not great quality but for the price you can’t compl

Whilst it’s not totally clear just what the name of this Hardman Street takeaway actually describes, it’s safe to assume that it is probably talking about its food and its chicken in particular(one could speculate as to what else it could be talking about, but it’s probably best not to). Thankfully for us the chicken is indeed hot and very tender, with its chicken pieces running KFC very close in terms of southern-fried perfection. Hot ‘N’ Tender also offers the usual pizzas, burgers and chips and its student-friendly deals are imperative in its position so close to other takeaways and a Subway, resulting in pleasant experience for every person who dines there.

A good takeaway after a long night out is particularly difficult to find. A reveller wants fast service and a meal that is moderately delicious and produced in a clean environment. Hot’N’Tender offers these qualities. Situated handily on Hardman Street by a number of popular bars and pubs, the takeaway stands out as being extremely accessible. It’s cheap, the staff are super friendly, and the service is extremely fast. There is a small seating area if your feet are wrecked by heels like mine often are, and if you so wish, you can even make small talk with the quirky-range of 3am inhabitants. If you want a decent chicken and chips meal(may it be late-night, or early-morning), then this is the place to go! I just wouldn’t recommend taking a vegetarian in there.

Championed by those in the know, this is the best place to get chicken in town. Conveniently situated opposite Hannah’s Bar, it comes in useful when those mid-afternoon drinks have turned into ‘oh god I’m drunk and it’s 10pm and if I don’t eat something I’ll be sick either now or tomorrow’. Not particularly somewhere I tend to go to when sober, it still does chicken as good as you can get outside of KFC. Also, if you’re leaving town after a night out, its not as far away as Kebab King Gemini or Pizza Prince Shiraz. There’s limited seating and for some reason every time I’m in there a local weirdo tries to either sit next to me or hold a shouted conversation across the room. Still, the food is good and cheap and it’s handy for the transition of evening to night.
