A decent burger is shockingly difficult to come by in this part of the world. Nine times out of ten either the meat is overcooked, or the overall product lacks flavor, quality or imagination. So how does GBK stack up? I’ve had several encounters with various incarnations of GBK, and, much as it pains me to say it, this chain is my go-to for a good burger, especially the Liverpool location. I’ve had the cheese & bacon burger twice; and both times found it perfectly cooked(medium rare for me), juicy, flavorful, and warmed throughout — as opposed to having a warmed patty combined with a refrigerator-cold bun and toppings, or medium-rare meat that is cold in the middle. It’s nice to see that GBK knows what it’s doing in this respect. On one occasion my partner had the blue cheese burger with gorgonzola and found it less flavorable than mine, although still very nicely done. In addition, GBK’s onion rings are excellent, while their garlic aioli is positively to die for. Their bottled beer selection is also above-average for a chain; the kiwi-based Steinlager is a charming addition. GBK falls short in terms of ambiance and overall experience, however. Tempting as it might be to linger for a drink or two after dinner, the garishly bright lighting at the Liverpool location in particular means that you generally don’t stick around for long after you’ve finished eating. In addition, although the prices aren’t out of line for a high-quality burger, they’re a little disproportionate for a place that looks like McDonald’s. Hence the otherwise unwarranted comparisons to other fast food restaurants in previous reviews on this site. I’ve always found the service friendly, if occasionally a little slow. Burger connoisseurs who also want to linger over drinks afterward will find a high-quality burger in a far more palatable atmosphere at Delifonseca close by. Purely on the grounds of deliciousness, however, GBK is hard to beat.

Gourmet Burger Kitchen is, as the name suggests, a high-end burger restaurant. This isn’t somewhere you come for cheap fast food, oh no, this is where you come for a real, proper, meal! Great meat, great flavours. The menu includes the standard ‘Classic’ burger which is exactly what you expect… but there is so, so, much more. There’s an Avocado & Bacon Burger, a Camembert, Hash Brown & Truffle Burger and my personal favourite, the Kiwi Burger. This one is New Zealand themed and features beetroot, fried egg and pineapple. Just stunning. The meat, in my experience, has always been excellently cooked. They always get it spot on — not bloody, but not overdone. Just a tad pink, which is how I like it. They also offer vegetarian options, such as Falafel, Bean and also Goats Cheese, Aubergine & Pesto. I believe there is an option to design your own as well, but I haven’t done this yet as there’s already so many to choose from. The prices aren’t cheap, but they’re well worth the money. Once you taste it, I doubt you’ll grumble. As I said earlier, this isn’t a quick snack type of place: this is a Gourmet Burger after all! Gourmet Burger Kitchen is one of my favourite places to eat and I could go back time after time. Excellent food indeed! Try to keep an eye out also, as they often to voucher deals getting you free food.

Table was still dirty even though it had been wiped before sitting down, chunky chips were overcooked, very very expensive for what you get not value for money, £4.50 for a strawberry milkshake that was sweet, over £5.00 for a burger, Camembert and cranberry was what I had far too much cranberry sauce that’s all i could taste, rosemary fries cold and tasteless. The only decent thing was the staff who were polite and also the décor

I broke my own rule of making sure I didnt visit anymore food chains or franchises by going to Gourmet Burger after a friend of mine decided we should grab something to eat there. Its a simple format of basically their own different types of burgers made from good quality meat at a fairly high price. Unlike Mcdonalds this restaurant chain has burgers which are full of taste and actually fill you up as they are big. I ordered the Habanero burger whcih was very tasty and not overcooked to ensure you get the full taste of the meat. This was washed down with a large strawberry milkshake. A must for a burger fan.

Gourmet Burger Kitchen sounded delicious when I read a description of what it provided and it turned out to be yet another top quality eatery within the Liverpool one vicinity. This place takes something as simple as a burger and makes it into an art form and one which is truly delicious at that. The best thing about this establishment is its dedication to organic produce which means that not only is your meal delicious but it is morally correct too and this is something which is becoming increasingly relevant in the modern age. The prices here were steep and I had to remind myself that this was no ordinary burger that I had just purchased. Any concerns over price quickly disappeared on tasting what they had to offer and since my first bite I have been a firm fan of this establishment.

GBK have taken the concept of the«burger» to a whole new level, attention to detail is the order of the day as they pimp yo burger to the max. Meticulously designed are these burgers from top to bottom. When I say top to bottom, I sure as hell mean it. Forget the tower burger from that greasy giant corporate burger brand this is the place to find burgers that tower over you. You can just tell that the whole place has the X-Factor!!! Look at that menu look at those names, «The Wellington» «The Buffalo» these are blockbuster burgers!!! Fact is that whether you go for the mystery of the Babaganoush with its mashed aubergines blended with tahini & spices or the Greek lamb with wholesome houmous, cucumber raita, fresh chilli sauce & salad, the burger is sure to blow you away. Coming in at less than £9 they are also great value for money seen as they are«gourmet». The service is great to boot. Cant get enough of it me. So go check check check it out because GBK is A-OK chamon!

I have to agree with Anthony on this one. Whilst Gourmet Burger Kitchen is set in an attractive location on Liverpool One’s restaurant terrace, their burgers are nothing special and definitely over priced. It cost me £6.35 for a 6oz classic burger which consisted of a lean beef burger in a sesame bun filled with a few salad leaves. No doubt, it tasted fine but not the best burger I’ve ate in town. I felt the bun could have been thicker and it wasn’t the best of quality either(a little crumbly). Everything else looked and tasted fresh though, plus the service was friendly. One thing to note, is that they automatically charge you for a large burger if you don’t mention you want small, which is a little cheeky. Remember, chips aren’t included either and you would have to pay an extra £3 for a portion. In terms of value for money, you’re best heading off to Burger King; you’ll save pounds and end up with a fuller stomach!

The best thing about Gourmet Burger is not the burgers but it’s location along the Liverpool 1 terrace overlooking Chavasse Park. That’s not to say that the burgers here are not good, they are but they’re just, well, burgers! Burgers have moved on from the greasey flat pattis from vans outside clubs and MacDonald’s was your only option from somewhere with a clean griddle as they are now the ‘gourmet’ culinery food of choice. Every restaurant now seems to offer their own homemade version, taking advantage of our taste for organic, cornbred, freerange meats. Gournet Burger is, for me not that unique. The burgers are similar in choice and quality to many other places some of which will inlcude fries or chunky chips in the price of their burger. Good quality but nothing exciting.

Up in the lofty heights of L1 overlooking Chavasse Park is Gourmet Burger Kitchen. Now here are chefs who really know their way around a good burger. If you fancy some greasy fatty food you won’t find it here, instead they have succulent and mouthwatering 100% Aberdeen Angus with all the relish and salad you can eat jammed on there. I’d never been before and didn’t know what to expect. Considering they’re in the burger market, the menu is vast. Not just your average beef, ketchup and gerkin on a stingy bun(Thanks, but no thanks, Maccy Ds.), they have a huge range of flavours. Jamaican, Cajun, BBQ, Blue cheese… you name it, they got it. I wanted to try something extra special as the prices are a little high I thought it would be better to spend it on the most deee-licious thing I could see. That’s where the speciality burgers come in. Check out the Chorizo with sweet potato. OMG. My friend ordered the Greek Lamb, that way we had double the taste for our money! Chips are extra but to be honest I had to de-assemble the burger before I could eat it it was so big. Expect to get a little messy. For with our next meal we were given a voucher, Buy one get the next one half price. It won’t be long til I’m pigging out again. Top notch.

If your hankering after a proper burger then look no further than the gourmet burger kitchen. Granted it is allot more expensive than a bog standard burger from McDonald’s or Burger King, but your eating experience will be much enhanced by the fantastic quality of the burger you choose. The restaurant itself has an American diner feel and is always busy, especially on weekends. Although unlike some of the other restaurants at Liverpool one it seems to have a never ending capacity and I have never been kept waiting any longer than 5 minutes. However all of this comes at a cost. The basic burger costs £7.45 and does not even include extras such as chips(£2). Hence the cost of a meal can quickly spiral out of control although it does allow for large groups to tailor an individuals meals to there own taste.

If you’re itching for a burger, I’d recommend Gourmet Burger Kitchen over McDonalds and Burger King any day. The prices are significantly higher than both fast food outlets but every single burger is cooked fresh and made from fully traceable Aberdeen Angus herd. If you want to try something different, you also have the option of organic buffalo or wild boar burgers. As for flavours, GBK offer about a dozen different varieties from Traditional, Barbecue, Chili and Mexican to Avacado and Bacon. Every burger is made to order too from rare or medium rare to well done and you can get toppings like bacon, chorizo, cheddar, feta, goats cheese, roasted tomatoes and pineapple for an extra £1.65. Service is fast and efficient and you can enjoy your food with a clearer conscience than at other fast food outlets. My only grumble is the milkshakes are disappointing.

I love the gourmet burger kitchen — the food is delicious! It isn’t really that expensive for what you’re getting. Okay, you could go to Mcdonalds and get a cheaper burger but it would not compare to GBK’s at all. I’ve tried the beef with blue cheese sauce and the mexicana burger and both were so so delicious. They are quite messy to eat though so not an ideal place to go on a first date unless you don’t mind getting sauce all over your face :-D The location of this one in Liverpool is great, just above all the new shops, near the cinema and close to the Albert Dock too.

I really like the food at Gourmet Burger Kitchen and I think that it is actually the vegetarian options that are the tastiest meals. I love the portobello mushroom burgers. They are so tasty yet really healthy at the same time. I’ve got vouchers for here loads of times so look out for that. The food isn’t too pricy anyway: about £7 a burger.

Nice and clean, quick, friendly service. Really tasty burgers, if a little expensive, around £12 each(sharing a bowl of chips between 2) including drinks. However, there are frequently offers available(check Martin’s Money Tips website for print off vouchers and info on where to find offers).
