Talk about speedy! I’ll tell you what, if you need to get a hot meal inside you pronto this is the place to do it, absolutely perfect if you’re on a constrained lunch break or something. It’s a lovely little spot and the service is always very friendly and efficient, plus any particular requests are more than happily accommodated. Their breakfasts are the stuff of legend, but that’s not to say the rest of the food on offer is lacking in any way. This is proper down to earth cooking, stodgy stuff that might well fur up your arteries but will put hair on your chest and set you up for the day, particularly if it’s a chilly one. Plus there’s some seating outside for sunnier climes and there’s nothing nicer than soaking up the rays with a good coffee and an interesting book. Definitely one to try out if you’re located centrally for the day.

I had a quick read of the other review before writing this and I had to totally agree that this is one of the drabbest places in Liverpool. The fact that it is still open owes only to its prime location in the heart of Liverpool’s business district where people need food, any food quickly! That’s pretty much what you get here. A selection of good sandwiches and coffees to go in a rush or take a seat in its much nicer interior. But you can tell that it’s a place catering for those who want a quick snack inbetween meetings as the coffee is not the best but is hot. It is a bit dark and cut off inside so I didn’t really feel like I wanted to spend a great deal of time here and enjoy my food.

Even with the outside seating in a bright pedestrian area, Fenwicks has got to be one of the drabbest looking coffee shops. It is so in need of some new signage to get rid of that terrible font. There is a really grotty rubbish bin right outside the door — presumably for smokers but it’s enough to put me off eating there. The interior however is pleasant. I’m not sure why Fenwicks call’s itself a coffee shop instead of a Café — this is Liverpool, not Amsterdam. Besides the regular tea and coffee there is a good selection of homemade hot food to eat in or take away. Liverpudlians enjoy late nights and later mornings. As at other local café’s, regular and large breakfasts are served all day. Some of the dishes on the menu can change daily.
