This is the mountaineers mountain shop were you will find the top equipment you will need for almost all outdoor pursuits including skiing, snowboarding and climbing.
As you would therefore expect, the goods here are not cheap but you get the feeling from everyone who works here that you’re in good hands and they are more than willing to point you in the right direction for what you need — I was at a recent talk by a documentary maker who I am pretty sure mentioned the manger of this store as assisting on several mountaineering films so they’re pretty qualified chaps!

Ellis Brigham is a store in Bold Street that sells a fairly wide range of excellent trekking gear.
If you are the type who enjoys the outdoors, this shop is one to look out for, as they sell everything you need to keep you well equiped whatever the environment. Those who don’t take trekking outdoors to an intense level would be wasting their time at this shop as its not wise to spend so much on an item you’re not going to take seriously.
This is one of the smaller stores of a similar type in the city centre but does have three squashed floors to browse and knowlegeable staff to help you along.

Ellis Brigham was the only choice available for my ski boots this year, finally deciding to invest in some of my own boots rather than bear this season’s seemingly extortionate hire costs I chose the Bold Street branch.
I’ll say this from the start, Ellis Brigham isn’t a particularly cheap shop. If I was in less of a rush or available to utilise the internet in this buy, I would have done. However, certain purchases need to be made when you can determine the quality of what you’re buying before hand and this was my choice.
Set out over 3 squashed floors, the Bold Street branch tries its best to pack everything in. The staff are very knowledgable and seem to be experienced in what they are doing and selling. So all in all, a recommendable shop for outdoor enthusiasts but look around before handing over the deeds to your house!

Great family owned mountain sports store on Bold Street. The staff are enthusiastic and knowledgeable and have always got advice if you’re going skiing or walking somewhere. There’s always someone who has already been and will share tips.
They go out of their way to be friendly and I’ve bought loads of ski stuff their over the years and alweays recommend it to others rather than going to some big faceless generalist sports store.
Also another qwuality specialist business on cool Bold Street.
