I’ve been here many times over the years. It is actually a spot I remember from when I was a child. It seemed really out of the way then but actually its 20 minutes from Belfast. I’ve never stayed in the hotel but had meals in the restaurant, bar area and even been to weddings here. It’s always got a nice atmosphere and does good food. Only thing is if it is busy such as going for Sunday lunch, I have found the service to be quite slow. In saying that I was there last week for lunch during the week for my sister’s graduation and the service was very good! Definitely a good spot. Noticed they do a steak night for 2 with a bottle of wine for £30 which I’ll need to check out!

Ok so it’s a good bit of a drive from Belfast, but it is worth it. I have long been travelling to the Ballymac for an occasional treat, and it has never disappointed. The menu is varied and it has a very good family atmosphere. It is actually a hotel but the restaurant is well known and has a nice countryside setting. The food is always fantastic and although a slight but pricier than some, you can definitely tell you are getting your money’s worth. I have read the other reviews but I can assure you I have never had a bad meal here and the service is always great. Quick service and good food now what could possibly be better than that?

Sundays are never the most exciting day of the week, so it’s on these days, we decide to take ourselves off somewhere new for Sunday lunch. A couple of weeks ago, we decided to go to the Ballymac, after hearing someone mention it the day previously. It is a hotel, and certainly looks impressive, and at times, opulent, both from the inside and out. In we went, to the restaurant/grill bar, and were shown to our seat. There was a good crowd there, mostly families with children out to enjoy their Sunday treat. We received our menus and had a look, after making our drink orders(if you order a soft drink, it’s from a mixer bottle, one of my bugbears, if you have read any of my other reviews!) The menu: Nothing very adventurous on here, just your standard burgers, steaks, roast dinners and suchlike. I decided to go for the prawn open sandwich, while my partner went for the steak(as usual!) The food arrived promptly, and while it was nice enough, it was nothing unbelievably special. That said, I would certainly be happy enough to eat here again, maybe I’ll just order something different next time!
