Great location overlooking the marina in Lincoln, good selection of ales and very reasonable prices indeed

Daytime food and drink, spot on for value for money. Only been a few times at night and the atmosphere is ok, the DJ tends to play mainly cheesy dance/chart stuff.

Was in late last night(a Saturday). Not quite as packed as earlier in the evening, so a nice amount of people, not the huge crowd often seen between 8 and 9 starting their night before moving into town. Good points include mostly low drinks prices and short waiting times to be served, and watching a pair of drunk blokes trying to break dance. Rather shallow this, but also a very cute brunette barmaid! Had food here a few times during daytimes and I liked it, though amount-wise you get what you pay for. £2.99 or 2 for 1s have their own ‘portion-control’ over the full priced meals. Bad points were the unimaginative playlist– don’t think the DJ played anything from before 2000 in the time we were there, the modern music that was played was very samey, i.e. talentless egocentric rappers and/or R & B chavs on auto-tune. It’s an unusual room, making it unique, but the acoustics are pretty bad making the music on the loud ‘night’ volume settings sound like a trebley mush(though Walkabout is worse). Also, I wish this type of pub would forget about putting that incredibly dull sport channel on the TVs– come back skydiver, all is forgiven! Overall, it’s ok. A different place in the day, appropriately more of a restaurant and older style atmosphere pub.

The venue is set upon the Brayford pool which at night can be calm and tranquil which is odd as at night in the square sail, the DJ is playing the predictable sounds of commercial dance, remixed pop tracks and euro pop whilst the bar is rammed full of people trying to get a drink and the loud humm of people shouting at people less than 2 feet apart over the loud music. The TV’s have Sky Sports News running most of the time on silent which is fine as not everyone is a sports fan, with the occasional music related video showing too and a huddle of people by the front door struggling to keep warm whilst they have a cigarette. The Square Sail offers a range of ‘Pub Meals’ but these are not freshly prepared just purchased in especially and zapped in the microwave, Voila fast food. The overall feel of the place though I feel I have not done justice. You can get a meal from £2.99(£1.99 recently), a Pint from £1.49 during the week and the knowlege that it is never empty for these reasons. During the day it is a calmer affair with concentration on the food trade with tables out the front for customers to enjoy the outdoor air or the smokers to enjoy a pint but I tend not to eat out too often so for me it is a night venue. It has a few Fruit Machines for the gamblers, It Box for the knowledge hungry and a poker table for the serious gambler, which I might add does end up with people queued up to play on. Also the largest Mirrorball Lincoln has to offer over the petit dancefloor. For more sociable seating you could try the sofa’s upstairs but it’s a long trek to the bar downstairs again. My only true negatives of Lloyds bar is sometimes the music volume is excessive, and the fact the bar is always sticky. Other than that it’s a great starter venue, stay all night venue and a nightcap venue all in one place.

Always very very busy, the service here is usually very good. I’ve never eaten so I can’t comment on the quality of food but the place itself is lovely and very different from day to night. Closely situated for parking, cinema and city centre.

Average Lloyds bar. During the day it’s good for a pint and some cheaps food, but gets packed at night and the music’s very loud and predictable. Cheaps drinks = cheap people.
