This is a lovely museum of old-timey fairground stuff, from carousel horses to old slot machines and games, and the whole building is filled with fairground artwork. There’s a lot of really interesting history to read and some great pictures to go along with it. In the second building there’s about 8 working rides that operate on a token payment system. Most of them are pretty tame, but they’re still fun for a wide range of ages, and great nostalgia. While it’s fun, it’s not really a day out: you are unlikely to be there for more than a few hours unless you spend the whole time on rides! But it’s nice to visit of an afternoon if you’re local to the area, and if not, maybe pop in on the way to or from somewhere else.

I visited Dingles steam village last summer and found it to be a very good day out. In the main building there is a museum showing some steam machines and exhibitions detailing the history of fairgrounds. We spent a few hours looking around this part and found it really interesting. There was also an organ that a member of staff from Dingles played. The second building contained 3 or 4 classic fairground rides, which you could ride for a small fee. There were also some push penny machines which were fun to use. The people who work there seem to be very passionate about what they do and I enjoyed the day there.
