It serves large portions of standard pub grub, which is OK. But don’t order anything fancy: I ordered duck breast and it was horribly overcooked.

This is a pretty run-of-the-mill, old fashioned pub. It is obviously mainly frequented by a die-hard set of locals who like it just the way it is and are not yet ready for change. This is also reflected in the menu with a good selection of standard British pub fare — ham, egg and chips, fish and chips, liver and bacon, a selection of burgers and pies etc etc… They do, however, have a substantial specials board which offered such exotic choices as lamb shank, fish cakes and pasta dishes as well as a number of vegetarian options. I went for the salmon, cray fish and rocket fish cakes which were pretty tasty, my main complaint was that they were deep fried, meaning they were a little oily. That said, the food all appeared to be homemade and was served in ginormous portions. However, the real highlight of this pub(and the main reason I have given it four starts instead of three) are the puddings. I had a slice of banoffee pie that was almost the size of my head! Yes, it was excessive and I was feeling a wee bit nauseous by the time I gave up three quarters of the way through, but it was bloody brilliant all the same. I will be back even if it is just for the banoffee!!!

We visit this pub often for their Sunday carvery. They have a selection of roasts and a vegetarian option. The service is very nice and the food very good and well cooked. The daily menu has specials and your usual pub fare. The pub has a large garden with a small play area. There is also an impressive, recently built, covered area. The servie is good and the prices fair, the sunday carvery is highly recommended.
