I am a fan, because it’s delicious. however, they lose a star for not being very friendly. MEATEVERYWHERE. Of course, this is a butcher. They have some oddly named items(to an American) and some things that are just plain odd(what’s in it?!) But the thing you need to get is the sausage roll! A delicious light colored sausage(what’s in it!?) wrapped in a soft, fresh, fluffy, flakey pastry. But seriously they call it a Cumberland sausage — which apparently just means it’s from what is now Cumbria, in England. So I ordered some sausage rolls and when the woman who was helping me walked away to wrap them up, I spotted this little pie thang and asked another person what it was. She said, «I can’t help you right now, I’m helping someone else.» Which is understandable, but who says it that way? Maybe it’s the English way? Anyway, Stratton’s has turkeys, chicken and GEESE. Yes. Geese. Those things that poop green on your shoe at the park and chase after your bread. You can eat them! EW. Regardless of offenses, the sausage rolls are choice. Skip the chicken mushroom pie, though, unless you can take it home to throw in the oven. That might improve the taste. I’m a fan of this place, though!
