Dropped in here to watch a Tour de France stage. Luckily a close test match had just ended in England’s favour so they didn’t need much convincing to switch channels! I generally hate Walkabout and all that it stands for. bad beers, bad music and bad attitude… but this one was a little different. For a start I was surprised to see a couple of beers(bottled) I had not had before. Ok they were basically lagers. but at least they were pretty decent lagers. They were Tooheys Extra Dry(TEDs) and James Boags Premium Lager. The latter led to some education as I was taught about the water purity in Tasmania The chap that served me was a top bloke and this was a pleasant visit but its still a fairly typical Walkabout so i cannot believe that late on Friday or Saturday it doesn’t become the same drunken thug filled hellhole that the other so branded pubs become.

If you’re 17 or 18 you’re going to love this place. Cheap drinks, all the gimmicks, tacky music and people rather the worst for wear. You’re sure to pull. If you’re alittle older(an adult), experienced a nice bar or two and like a more sophisticated night out, then steer clear, you’ll hate it. Horses for courses though, this place has a market and it’s just not me.

Good food and helpful staff but seriously needs to sort it’s heating out. It was freezing and the staff said they couldn’t switch the air con off. I wasn’t the only one dining with a coat on!!!

I have found all Walkabouts to be great value for money, they know the audience they are targeting and they get them through loads of drinks offers, live music and party tunes. I wouldn’t recommend it for a night out, I prefer to go to walkabout for the football, rugby or a casual drink on a weekend because the atmosphere is always great. In Leicester, there is a Jongleurs upstairs, so you can enjoy a walkabout beer or two before and after the show and you never have to leave the venue. Great idea! Popular with stag and hen parties too.

The Walkbout pub situated near the train station and the high street of Leicester city centre is ideal for a post work drink or for your night out if yu like typical music played rather loudly and typical drinks served rather poorly. I recently visited the Australian pub with my dad and his friend, purchasing jsut three drinks on a Friday night, the price was a mere seven pounds which for Leicester is rather good! However, the bar staff knocked over my Peroni and refused to pen me another and also spilt part of my Dads pint, which did not go down well. If you like very busy environments and are not bothered about how you are served your drink as long as you get it down your neck, then this is the place for you!

If you’ve been to one varsity then you’ve been to them all. This is not a bad quality however. The food here is great pub food, what you would expect to find, ranging from burgers to chilli. Both the food and drinks are at a great price also. Some Walkabouts such as the one on Broad Street in Birmingham can be seen as a place for the whole night and have a clubbing scene. I feel however that this one is more for pre-drinks or a more relaced clubbing scene. Music here can often be called cheesy but secretly everybody loves it. Staff are lovely and there is a great atmosphere and buzz about the place and a great time with friends.

Probably better during the day, but I’ve only ever been at night, and this place feels like a meat market then. If you’re into your sports, this place has a huge widescreen and shows a lot of crucial rugby and football matches, so a good place to relax with a pint and cheer on the lads. Otherwise, I’m afraid, unless you like your punters loud and braying, your staff diffident and your music cheesy and chart, it’s a bit of a letdown.

Walkabout Inn is the only branch of the Australian themed pub in Leicester, in fact I think it may be the only Walkabout in the whole of Leicestershire. For those who aren’t familiar with what the ‘average’ Walkabout is like, the closest comparison is Weatherspoons, another major pub chain. As with Weatherspoons, Walkabout combines a modern spacious pub with a standardised food menu; both food and drinks are priced very competitively. The general atmosphere in the place is a very relaxed one, compared to a lot of bars in the city. Personally, I tend to come here either on a friday or saturday night and use it as my ‘warm up’ for going on to a club. You will often get bands playing or a bit of a disco, which is a nice way to start the evening. A warm friendly atmosphere, with a bit of punch, a nice balance between a traditional pub atmosphere and a more modern bar.

Chain Pub — therefore, busy. It is cheap and a popular favourite for student bar crawls. Tends to be quiet during the day. It is ok I guess, a bit dark and dingy for lunch — but ok if you were out with a big bunch of people. It is also linked into Joguleurs comedy club next door — I didn’t find that Jongulers was that good in Leicester, bit rough around the edges.

This place is great on a Saturday night, they often have live bands playing covers. There is always plenty of cheesy music to dance to, and it never seems to take too long to get served regardless of how busy it looks. If you are here during the day the food is not bad, they have a variety of burgers including the obvious choices such as beef or chicken, they also serve Springbok burgers which were rather tasty. The only down point about the place is the fact that the floor does seem to get very dirty, not the nicest place to be in nice sandals. I’m not sure if this is worse than other places, or just appears to be because of the lighting, but I won’t be visiting in my favourite shoes in future. Other than that, the atmosphere is great and would highly recommend.

Never tried the menu, so can’t comment on that, but ended up here a couple of times late on a Friday night and always found it to be pleasant enough. Reasonably friendly atmosphere, cheesy tunes on to dance to and the beer is incredibly cheap compared to pretty much everywhere around! In the week when this place is just normal pub they have further specia offers which make it even better to drink in! However, as you would expect they appear to have a high turnover of slightly surly, unknowledgeable staff!
