The Stone Roses Bar

I got thrown out for telling the bouncer someone had thrown a drink in my eye since they have a 'no dickhead policy' and if you throw a drink 'you get thrown out'. Honestly made an embarrassment of me in front of my friends because I told him and my eye was swollen and someone threw a drink. Absolute joke.

The Stone Roses are one of my favourite bands, so I approached this bar that used their hallowed name in vein with some trepidation.
I was impressed that they incorporated the lemon design into the shop-front’s lettering, and that they had other designs and memorabilia that nodded towards Ian Brown and the gang, so it clearly wasn’t just a place that had used the name but knew nothing about the band.
They also played a lot of Roses’ influenced music which is always good, but, because of this, there were mainly just groups of lads acting stupidly due to the cheap beer, and very few women or civilised people on the evening I went.
It’s got its own character though, and, if like me you’re a big Roses fan, you owe it to yourself to check the place out. You probably won’t want to spend all night here though.

If The Stone Roses Bar was called something else, it would probably be one of my favourite nightspots. It plays my favourite music from back in the day, it’s cheap enough for a pint and there’s a decent mix of young and old, both in their Fred Perry polos, but all out to have a good time.
However, on recent visits, I’ve left early — frustrated at the ‘lads’ who have no inkling who Fred Perry was, let alone the Bluetones. They’ve just come along to get mad for it, in my face. No thanks mate.
If you get a good night, it’s gold. On a bad one, more fool you for staying longer than a swift guzzle of that first pint.
