The selection of items is excellent and caters to all tastes which really is a rarity in most pet shops. There were some very nice luxury items as well as more adorable alternatives. Then reptiles and fish looked well after with a clear sign that dogs were not permitted near the live pet section which I thought was a very good idea. Only went in for a collar but could not help leaving with far more then I had originally planned. The staff was very helpful answering my requests and helpful getting 2 items from the glass cabinet for me and even checking their storage for small collars that were available. Left a very happy customer

I really don’t like this shop. It has nothing to do with the stuff it sells or the way the animals are cared. On this front it’s a good store, hence 2 stars rather than a lowly one.
What makes it a place I will no longer visit is the attitude of the staff. I bought a humane mouse trap here which was faulty. I took it back and the lady who served me was curiously off hand in her manner, but exchanged the faulty item in a somewhat grudging manner. I bought some other bits and pieces too, but a collar I purchased was the wrong size. When I went back a different member of staff was again somewhat cold-​mannered in exchanging the item. I didn’t want a refund, just an exchange. I was told I was ‘only just in time’ as they operated a strict 28 day exchange policy. I said that sounded a little drastic as this was a cat collar still in its packaging and all I wanted was to swap it. I was told the policy was because they sold animal food and it was to do with that. Despite pointing out that a cat collar is hardly perishable goods the fact remained that I was fortunate to be just in time and I was told that I would find all retail outlets actually operate the same policy. As I myself work in retail I told the shop assistant that this wasn’t correct as my shop didn’t have the same policy. I got a blank expression in return, but I did get an exchange. Just.
If you judge a shop by what it sells and how it keeps its stock then this is a great pet shop. If, however, you value customer service and manners as well as everything else you will be sorely disappointed. That’s 2 shoddy experiences for me, and 2 too many.

I was interested to read a review about the rather unusual manners of the staff here, as I rather thought it was just me. You know, my face or something. It’s nice to hear that it is at least one other person’s face and not just mine.
I popped in on a bit of a whim, looking for dog treats and to see what was going down in the latest pet shop in ma hood. There is a wide range of merchandise at fairly reasonable prices and the animals looked well cared for, so there is a star for that.
But the staff? Genuinely bamboozled by their attitudes, and I mean attitude in the very literal teenage huffypuffy ‘I hate everything’ sort of a way. I asked to have a look at some collars that were behind the till, and was met with silence. Actual for real silence. Staring right through me silence. SO weird.
So I asked again, more silence, so in a very English was decided to babble my reasons for wanting to look at the collars. Not a single damn word. The girl just turned slowly (revolving for eternity with the centrifugal force of internal rage?), reached for one random collar and slapped it on the counter… then looked away.
Just so very very odd, to be THAT bad a customer service is really an art. To be that rude a human being interacting with another human being is quite unnerving. I should have said something, and believe me as I left my potential purchase (more fool you lady, I have LOTS and LOTS of cats who I’d happily buy diamanté collars for) and walked out I knew I was in for a long argument with myself in the shower later with all the awesome statements my brain just couldn’t come up with at the time.
I wont be going back to such an unwelcoming place, no matter what the convenience… I’ll stick to making the effort to go to Paws For Thought on York Road where I am guaranteed good advice, as much browsing as I want and *faint* a smile.
So, top tip for the staff at Paw Prints? Ladies, if you hate your job so much that you death glare your customers out the door… then the service industry is probably not for you.
Perhaps bouncer or loan shark would be a better sphere of employment.

I first visited this shop about two weeks ago and I came back today.
The first thing I’ll say is that if you’re interested in buying a pet you NEED to check this place out! They sell a variety of pets from kittens, hamsters and other rodents, to birds, reptiles and pretty much anything that belongs in an aquarium.
The prices are great too! The main reason this shop stands out for me though and why I’m writing this review is the quality of care that the animals receive. I stayed in the shop for about half an hour. During this I got to experience feeding time. The reptiles were fed and the member of staff stayed for several minutes to check the animal was ok and eating normally. Another member of staff was taking care of the kittens. She weighed them, played with them and completed various checks all of which she recorded on a sheet. Any animals that were in cages or tanks had plenty of room for example no more than four birds per cage and less than ten fish per tank. This made me happy. I can’t think of any other pet shop in Leeds that doesn’t depress me upon entering due due to cramped conditions and poor care of the animals. I wholeheartedly recommend this place when purchasing a new addition to your family. These animals are extremely well looked after.
