Oh dear. Once upon a time I worked just up the road from this particular Co-Op; I got lunch here a few times a week, along with a few bits for home for convenience, and it was horrible. Two years have elapsed since then, and I find myself working at the same place, yards from the Co-Op. It’s still awful. Swing by at lunchtime on any given day and find yourself squeezing down aisles suddenly narrowed with carts that the staff are using to stock the shelves. Queues stretch down the aisles as there’s only usually one person serving. Get scowled at by the Greggs staff down the far end. Treat yourself to some fresh, mouldy, slightly furry bread. In fairness, some of the staff are lovely and chat while they bag up your items. Others wear a glazed expression and grunt at you if you dare to ask how much your items come to. «Read the f*cking display» they say with their dead eyes. I like the Co-Op. But I hate the Burley Park Co-Op.

+ This store is open all hours. This is extemely useful when you have run out of booze at 3 on a Friday night/Saturday morning. And at these times there does seem be a good vibe going on at this store as plenty of people are doing the same thing as you are. Before midnight the staff seem to be on this vibe too. — The store is EXPENSIVE as it is conveniently opened 24 hrs a day most days. This might be why i never end up there during daylight hours. After midnight the staff seem more serious as well. Convenient

This Co-op is a great store although I prefer it when students are away on leave. There’re never many staff on shift at any time of the day and I have never been in a queue less than 5 people. Around busy times there’re 10+ waiting to be served at the tills. The store has 4 isles and the fresh isle is split into two with the fruit and veg stands. This Co-op does have a Gregg’s store at the back offering all Gregg’s products at all times of the day. They have packed pasties for sale when the Gregg’s staff have left the shop. Great for late night Gregg’s :-) Also they have a fine selection of all goods. Not a very large freezer section but has a good selection of fresh products. Also dont forget to get a co-op card! Points are prizes :-) COSTA coffee available.

It’s open 24 hours which is great if you’ve forgotten some essentials, however it is quite expensive and you can wait in the queues for a long time if you come in at the wrong time.

Extremely expensive. I try hard not to do my shopping there as i feel im getting robbed out of my money. Its 24 hours which is good in emergencys eg. need milk for some midnight cereal. IF your a student, just dont do it, go somewhere cheap!

Expensive — evidently trying to capitalise on the fact that many students live right next door. Queues can really build, and it’s not uncommon to be waiting for 10 minutes or more. Deals are not many, but there is a Greggs in store for fresh baked good. Also open 24 hours(apart from Sundays) for essentials.

With it being right near the train station I often pop in here to grab something for tea. With a small Greggs instore I normally tend to grab a sausage roll or something similar. However on the odd occasions I do have a stroll around the store which doesn’t have the best lay out. I am not really a great fan of Co-Op as they seem a little expensive although I do love their own brand ice-cream.

This Co-Op drives me absolutely mental. It’s a convenience store, right? Wrong. There is nothing convenient about it. It is never staffed sufficiently, and I always have to set aside a good 30 minutes to pick up one ingredient because the queues are all the way to the back of the store and there are only two chuffing tills open out of a possible 6. NB Don’t nip here cos you forgot something and you’re mid-cook. Your tea WILL burn. I worked here when I was a student and it wasn’t that sh*t then, so I don’t know what happened. The only saving grace is that there’s a Greggs counter at the back. Terrible range, never fully stocked, ALWAYS has empty shelves, rubbish staff(they’re rude, insolent, ignorant and incompetent), expensive, just don’t shop here.
