I bought a voucher on Living Social, 2 starters, 2 mains and rice or naan for £10. There is no way Balti King can possibly be making any money from this deal because the food they served up was really good quality. I ordered the Lamb Tikka Massala. Lamb was perfectly cooked and fell apart, not even slightly tough. The naan was massive and really tasty. Starters were nicely presented and again well cooked. For the cost of the voucher I didn’t expect the quality of food we received. The only reason I’ve knocked off 1 star is because the service was a little slow but it was busy. I ordered a drink that didn’t arrive and nobody came to ask if everything was ok with the meal. Initial service was very good and we were greeted with a hand shake on arrival. What is really clear about Balti King is that the owner cares about his business. The picture attached to this review does the place no justice because it has undergone a massive refit and looks a million times better than before. I would definitely recommend Balti King, it’s well placed for a good curry before moving on for a night out.

We rarely go for a curry, but when we do, it has to be Balti King. We actually live on the other side of Leeds, but it’s that good we’re willing to travel. It’s rarely busy, so you can just drop in, and the staff are polite and friendly to the point of making you feel you’ve stumbled into someone’s front room. The menu is vast and varied, and there’s a separate vegetarian menu rather than the veggie option being ‘that one, without meat’ which is normally what my partner ends up with. The curries themselves are absolutely delicious. I’m working my way through the menu, and I’ve never had a bad dish. Everything tastes really fresh, and the meat is always tender and full of flavour, and in plentiful portions. Naan breads are HUGE, really really huge, which is never a bad thing. They’ll also deliver across the city, and I’ve seen them advertise BYOB, though their alcohol prices are reasonable enough. Fab place, go and eat.

This was one of the worst currys I have ever had the unpleasant experience to consume. I ordered a Chicken Tikka Madras takeaway. The sauce was watery and tasteless. There was so much chicken which would usually be a good thing except for the fact that it was repulsive. There was hard lumps in the chicken which was not tikka. It tasted foul and the thought of it still makes me feel queasy. The nan bread was mediocre and pretty awful. The raita yoghurt dip was bad too.

Oh my word. I love this restaurant. The menu is enormous and their curries and balti dishes are fab. My particular favourites are the lamb paneer balti and the chicken and spinach balti. The mango lassi is also refreshing and not too sweet. My best tip is that if you are going with friends(4 or more, perhaps), don’t order separate naan breads or rice plates– order the FAMILYGARLICNAAN. Other than being really good, I won’t tell you why else. It’s a great surprise waiting to happen. I’ve never ordered takeaway, but for a dine in restaurant, it’s got a good ambiance with lovely lighting. The staff are friendly and it’s very decent priced. They open at 5, so eating there for lunch isn’t an option.

Is it totally sad that I know the owner, Eddie, and his cousin, Iman, by name? Yes… this is how much I go there… in fact I go there so often that we usually exchange high-fives and Eddie called me to the side for my birthday(thinking he was gonna slap me with the crazy check for our 15 party group) to surprise me with a gift bag of a nice bottle of wine and a gift certificate for my next Balti King meal!!! So… can you tell… I LOVEBALTIKING!!! whether I go there alone or with people the staff ALWAYS take care of us! They take the time to get to know you and make sure that you’re food is good!!! and is the food good? uh… YEAH! especially their Lamb Tikka Paneer!!! OMG! I’ve tried my friend’s food too and those are awesome too!!! AND… may I suggest getting a family nan for parties of 3 or more… it is AMAZINGLY huge and good and fluffy!!! AND if you surprisingly have room for dessert they let you keep the dessert cups– one of which is a CUTE cow and another which is an AWESOME bear!!! AHHHH!!! BALTIKINGISTOOMUCHGOODNESS!!! TOOMUCH!!! I always bring people here who are new to Leeds(not like I know a lot about Leeds, but I DOKNOWBALTIKING!!!) Balti King will definitely be missed when I head back to the states… so I better make these next 4 months worth every balti king experience!

I have been into the restaurant in Balti King before for a friends birthday but never had a take away. The food was OK and reasonably priced, but the atmosphere in the place felt really strange. Firstly, we were the only people in there. Imagine a sea of tables, dressed with table cloths, neatly folded napkins and glasses in a dim gold light. But no customers. It was peak time for dinner customers as well so it was kind of eerie and suspicious. The waiters all stood around at the edge of the room and we felt like we were being stared at. The over-all experience was a bit creepy. If you are looking for Indian cuisine in this area I would recommend 7 Spices round the corner on Woodhouse St. It’s much better.

One of those curry houses whose sole business seems to come from stumbling home students who think it’s a hilarious idea to go for a sit down meal at 3am when they can barely stand, let alone read a menu. As such, it’s perfect if you’re in that state, as the staff have pretty much seen it all, but anyone else will probably be best off giving it a wide berth. I had a takeaway from here once and it was horrible: cold, sludgy and flavourless. Apparently the eat-in side of things is much better, but I’ve never felt brave enough to give it a go. On the plus side it’s cheap, filling and probably better for you than a greasy kebab.

One of the many takeaways in this cluster by Hyde Park, Balti King also has a restaurant attached, and does a good business from students mainly. I ordered and collected from here once not too long ago, and it was a very average experience to be honest. Usually, when you get takeaway food from somewhere that has a restaurant attached, you expect the takeaway food to be of a high standard(it gets served in a restaurant after all). This food was far from amazing — I had a mediocre curry that could have come out of a jar for all I know. I don’t know if they up their game for the restaurant food but I doubt it. Cheap enough and hit the spot, but with so many other places round here, it’s probably not the best option.
