Sticky, dark, bar towel smelling kind of pub with a louder but fairly sparse crowd. Woo hoo early twenties late teens! Fun dance music at 8:30pm– I suggest coming here drunk or getting there quickly to drink up!!!

Not my favourite pub in Kingston. The atmosphere isn’t amazing and the prices don’t make up for that. I’d much rather just pop over to spoons or some other little pub that isn’t corporate(but that’s the hippy in me).

Typical O’Neils bar with the usual offerings. A selection of quite well sized tables if you are in a group(if you get there nice and early that is as it can get very busy). Quite well laid out with the pub being split about 50⁄50 with half being able to see and hear the sport they are showing and the other half for people that couldn’t care less about it. For big sporting events they will use a large screen and create an area of chairs to allow as many people as possible to watch the game; this can create quite a good atmosphere as everyone is clearing watching it. Beyond that, it’s nothing special but serves a purpose and does it quite well.

One of the better O’Neills’ I’ve been to. Be it a post-work chillax session with colleagues or friends, with dancing to some weird band, or meeting my mother or father here for lunch, I’ve never been let down. Whilst it does have that«I’m a bar that gets packed, and thus now have to smell of slightly stale ale at all times» smell to it sometimes, it’s not so bad to be noticable for long. The food here is great. If you’re with someone, look at their platter special. 4 platters for half the price, or something. Easily enough for 2 people to fill up on. Drinks wise, it’s the usual. However, they have a pretty nice wine selection in my experience here, and the staff are very keen to point out the pricing of glasses vs bottles for if you plan on staying a while. In fact, the staff are just friendly, full stop, really. I’ve yet to meet one I couldn’t warm to. They have an outdoor seating area during the day, which is great to just sit outside in for lunch/days off to have a few drinks, nibbles and chat. However, for this reason, especially with our currently sunny days, it is PACKED every time I see it. During the evenings, the chairs and tables are taken away, and a rope is put up so they can limit the people entering/leaving as required, to keep it controlled. Something most places seem to do in Kingston these days, and for good reason. They’re unobtrusive to the well intentioned client, however, and don’t give you hassle when going in and out for cigarettes. Not as big as the nearby Whetherspoons, but it holds a special place in my heart.

A good boozer for a Thurs., Fri. or Sat. evening — and open late(until 2am on the weekends). The place is very big and — on the 5 or 6 times I’ve been there on a Thurs. or Fri. evening — it seems to divide itself into the bit on the left(I know, not hugely helpful, but can’t think of another way to describe it) with tables which has the 30-something sit-down crowd, and the bit on the right which is more stand-up, younger, louder music crowd. This distinction has been there all the times I’ve been there, but it could just be a coincidence? The place gets quite busy, and after about 9pm or so on both a Thurs. and a Fri. I’ve seen queues outside(albiet, short ones). And there’s a lot of the 18 – 25 crowd there, albiet it, well behaved, so the place does tend to be a bit young and trendy with the usual amount of flirting, posturing, posing, etc And the music can get quite loud in one half of the place so its not conducive to chatting The staff(mostly foreign students with a token local thrown in here and there :-)) are very friendly, and we even gotten service at our table several times(usually when the volumous amounts of glasses are being collected). There is also quite a few bar people, so I’ve never had to wait too long for service which is good for someone like me who has bad bar presence(I’ve had bar staff look over and past me sometimes in pubs to take orders from people behind me!!!). I’ve had burgers there which I think are quite good, although at 8+ quid, not exactly cheap. I’ve found the chips not great, but ordering food on a Friday night isn’t gonna get you the bestest results. Lastly, I have to say that when the wife is shopping on a Sat. or Sunday afternoon, this is a fab., quiet place to read the paper, have a sandwhich or Irish stew(which is very good!!) and chill out.

You will rarely meet an actual Londoner at O’Neil’s. Many of the pub frequenters hail from Manchester, Australia, Poland, France and especially the good old US of A. Never before has there been such a sweaty mass of American study abroad students than on Tuesday nights with the Lettuceheads, one of my favorite rock hits cover bands. I knew I had been going there too long when I saw the same boy I had made out with(Tim Flinn — he asked me to find him on Facebook after he dumped at the bus stop yeah, easy enough) mackin on another American girl — five weeks later. Other than the diverse amalgam of people, the drinks are fairly inexpensive, the bartenders make excellent Snakebites, and if you make it up to the 3rd floor — you’ll never want to go back.

Another souless fake Irish bar from Mitchells and Butlers. Gassy beer, unfriendly staff and strictly no children! Funny ‘Irish’ bar!!! If you want real craic, go to a real Irish pub. O’Neills are about as Irish as Robert Mugabe

I love this place. By far my favourite chain of pubs. There is something about the interior that makes you feel as if you are in a dublin pub. There are lobsters on the walls, nets on the ceilings. Its a really strange yet comfortable place. There are nice seating areas as well as a nice outdoor area for the smokers. there are nice private ares for groups and open spaces if you just want to socialise, and in my experience the clientelle are all friendly and all want to chat to anyone. I wouldnt recommend taking your banker friends here as it is more cheap than chic, but other, less fussy friends will love it. Definately recommended.

This pub is a local success. There are always great bands playing irish music or covers of present bands. The atmophere is lively and bubbly. The booths are social and comfortable. Most importantly the drinks are cheap and yummy!
