I visited this restaurant for my birthday shortly after it had been taken over by its current owners and before its relaunch. The service was friendly and prompt and it was a wonderful, relaxed environment, it is fairly small in size but full of character. The food, and I’m not exaggerating, was delightful. For starters the special of the day was fresh, locally sourced mussels, and for my main course I ordered a seafood linguine dish, which was particularly impressive: light, fresh and full of flavour, they got it spot on. Marketing themselves somewhere between local pub food and upmarket bistro, the menu was full of variety, mixing old classics such as fish and chips and bangers and mash with other more adventurous dishes, as well as providing a number of choices for vegetarians. In my mind it is just what the town needs, a refreshing change from the chain restaurants that are so dominant and value for money as well.
