The Tent

Excellent Variety of food and reasonably priced. Great atmosphere, arabic music, belly dancers and nice layout. They do a lunch buffet and dinner.
Its Turkish, Mediterranian and arabic cuisine.

I had the privilege of being one of the very first customers of ‘The Tent’ that opened recently on Ilford High road. I was entirely impressed with the décor and general ambience of the place — which was a successful imitation of many Lebanese restaurants that run with the exotic-​theme and earned a comparison with the hotspots of Edgware road.
The service was flawless — though I couldn’t quite tell if the waiter was embarrassed on account of failing a bet with fellow bar staff that I was Greek [how flattering!] or in fact that I had caught him staring at my chest on multiple occasions [how uncomfortable!] Either way, the smile on his face was pretty much inerasable.
I adored the 4 giant tents, laced with coloured sequence and mirrors with an assortment of cushions piled high to ensure maximum levels of comfort — topped off with the Arabian lanterns that I love so very much! I, obviously, made a b-​line for the one entitled ‘Genghis Khan’!
The anti-​climax of the night, then, quite obviously had to be the food. The portions were ridiculously small, not to mention the food was cold and the chips although piping hot, were immersed in a sea of oil [a definite no-​no when my personal trainer is within a 2-​mile radius!] An unfortunate 2 stars [on account of the décor alone!!!]
