A good Wetherspoons chain, offering very good service. The outdoor area is not bad with benches ideal on a sunny day. I am writing a review about this as the staff went above and beyond to go and correct our food orders when a mistake had been made. The beer selection is good and the parking nearby is handy. Would recommend for a cheap quick pint and meal if in the area.

So my girls are at a Saturday night swimming gala at a pool round the corner. 45 mins warm up before the main event starts which left enough time for a trip to a «country pub» as opposed to the normal poolside sauna. I don’t get out of Hoxton much… Well first up I get change from a fiver for a beer… a lot of change… almost feels like too much change… and the bar staff were friendly… almost too friendly — they chatted — not really used to that in Hoxton. This pub is big — with a large garden — not too appealing on wet and miserable night but I guess in summer it could be pleasant. It is a Weatherspoons — which pretty much says it all. Cheap beer, cheap food, a certain clientele(if you read between the lines). Lots and lots of locals — who did kind of look but then again I am probably the last man in shorts in Fairlop. It’s loud with the backdrop of banter and the kerching of fruit machines. Rather shockingly the range of cask ales is extensive and ridiculously priced — in a good way. Would I eat here — well no — it’s a Weatherspoons. But lots of people were and looked happy with it. Would I drink here again — well yes but only if I am at another gala round the corner. Busy busy — Weatherspoons know their market and deliver what they want — I guess it just takes more than a hanging basket to do it for me…

Been to lunch at the Fairlop Oak a few times. The food is very cheap, and you know the saying«you get what you pay for» well that definitely is the case here. Their menu is quite good, it’s a shame the quality of food isn’t. The food is quite bland. The atmosphere is alright, during the day it is filled with a lot of mothers with children, I’ve never been at night, during the day it can get quite packed. I would def go for a drink but I wouldn’t go back for food.

I have had some good times at the Fairlop Oak. Strangely though; I’ve heard many tales of people talking about the ‘rough’ people that frequent it. Personally, I’ve had nothing but good times. The food is good and cheap. It’s typical Wetherspoon stuff; but it works and I’m never disappointed. They have curry nights, steak nights and god knows what else; so there’s always a bit of variety to what you can order. I’ve been to this place for a quiet meal with a girl, I’ve been here for a loud drink up with my friends, I’ve been here with my family. It seems to work every time. The pub is big enough to have a different personality on different sides of the bar. In the summertime, the beer garden is pretty nice too. I recommend it. Decent food, decent staff– although, unfortunately, I do often find I am standing at the bar FOREVER, especially when ordering the food.

Not the nicest of the Weatherspoons pubs, although the drinks are cheap and the food is cheap, thats about the only thing that its got going for it. The food is not very nice at all, i ordered a toasted BBQ Chicken and cheese melt. I assumed that meant the cheese would be melted? But it wasnt — there was just bread no butter a slice/chunk of cold cheese some BBQ sauce and a bit of cold chicken. Not what i had received from other Weatherspoons. Apparently the kitcken was having staffing problems, dont see how that means they cant toast it but anyway. The tables are dirty and sticky, as is the surrounding areas inside. Dont think it has been done up for a while very out of date. Staff are ok, not rude but then not really full of conversation. They do have outside eating/smoking areas although not the best. Toilets werent very clean and i decided to wait until i got home, not much atmosphere and many ‘regulars’ of older men which was actuqally a bit intimidating when walking in, but then you get what you pay for cheap booze and cheap food — drinks were ok so overal was an OK night but nothing special!
