Jrc Global Buffet

I give it 2 stars because of my previous experiences which were very very good but on the last occasion I got to see how low this places standards has become. Went for a group meal on a Friday in early December and I found that they Charles the price up from £16 to £20 but refillable drinks are now part of the deal which is good. Nearly 70% of the dishes that are usually there were not, most of the dishes were unavailable which was hugely disappointing. There was very little to choose from and very little effort was made by the management to replenish what was there anyway. For £20 (which is steep by any standard) I expected this place to be even better than before and keep in mind we went on a Friday which is supposed to be one of the busiest days so turnover for food should be much better than what we and other diners got. Very disappointed and probably won’t be going again.

I cannot believe I am the first to write a review here. As far as buffet goes, I am not a fan period. But I make an exception to formerly known as Cosmo. This is a different kind of buffet, its the one you may find similar to US. This is a world buffet, something for everyone, and the turn over food is high, so its fresh all the time. Food is not bad either, really like the teppanyaki, which is cooked in front of you whilst you wait, and pondering did I make the right choice, what the heck, I can come back for round two, three … Four. Atmosphere is lively. Almost every tom dick and harry eats here. Which is why I love it. Its cheap, you pay extra for drinks, the layout is modern and up to date. Had really good laugh. The Croydon branch I would say has better and more selection I feel. Service is efficient and fast and you don’t feel rushed. Evening times can get really hectic and sometime require booking. Slightly out of peak times is best I would suggest.

Great!!! I would recommend this place to everyone. Well worth the price since your spoilt for choice and most food are halal especially the fresh grill section. I love the sushi and dessert. Wow! Anytime and I’m ready to eat here! Lol! Any invites for me!!?

it’s a great place for family and friend

Well this branch of JRC Global Buffet seems to be 1 out of 6 branches quickly expanding across the UK. Located in an up-​and-​coming building in Ilford, it seems demand for buffet is high here.
The first warning to you all is that, personally I don’t think Ilford is that safe of an area, so please don’t be walking around by yourself at night here, especially if you’re planning to enjoy a long buffet dinner at the weekend.
OK that aside let’s move onto the buffet place. It’s really nicely decorated mind you for a buffet place. Very posh looking at the entrance and they have a good system going. You tell the first gent how many people in your party, wander to the second desk to pay your entrance fee, and the third person leads you to your table.
Price wise, it’s ok for what you are eating. Obviously lunch is cheaper, Monday to Friday 12−3pm it costs £7.99 but some of the stations such as the teppanyaki and sushi station are not available for lunch. Friday evening and weekend prices are currently £15.99 (the prices went up by £1 at the end of February 2014) BUT if you go on your bday and can show ID you eat for free!
Drinks are not included, they have huge jugs of water for you to help yourself to, or you can order drinks or tea at the bar but you have to pay separately.
Now — food. They have many cuisines, Indian, Chinese, Malaysian, Japanese, Italian. A lot of the food are the usual fried and greasy foods to try and fill you up as fast as possible. The Teppanyaki station was the most popular, with you being able to order prawns and scallops etc fried to order. Unfortunately, it seems each person can only order 2 scallops and 1 prawn each time you queue, and it takes 30 minutes for you to reach the front of the queue.
One of the worst things I saw at the buffet place was 1) the people there. I came with my family and a friend. My bf was ashamed at the behaviour being exhibited by some of the other Chinese people there. Literally, as soon as the staff put out a fresh sample of boiled prawns, they proceeded to take the WHOLE LOT onto their plate, leaving 2 prawns. Are you serious? Have you never seen food before?
2) the problem contributing to this horrendous behaviour is that the staff are not ready and willing to top up food that has gone empty in the buffet.
When I went there (mind you this is like 5.30pm before dinnertime) the sashimi left at the Japanese section was a paltry 2 – 3 pieces dotted around the plate looking like leftovers. My mum was pitifully picking one piece up, looking at the staff, and picking another piece up. The staff looked like they wanted to go to the fridge to get more out, but didn’t in the end. REALLY? We come here to eat food not look like we’re begging to be offered scraps of meat.
My BF had enough of these despicable behaviour and proceeded to tell off the Peking duck chef first, telling him to cut out more meat, there was none. Then he proceeded to tell the Japanese staff to put out more sashimi. Really, there should have been a dedicated manager doing all of this, my bf should not be ordering the staff around doing what they should be doing already.
My bf didn’t eat sweet food plus there wasn’t anyone to tell off because noone manages the sweet section. They had a chocolate fountain that looked really gross and all the plates at the side were empty (the dips!!!) apart from green and red grapes… er…it looked really bad when kids were putting grapes in the chocolate and I can safely say I will never eat from there.
If you went to Malaysia or Hong Kong and saw no food at the buffet, no one would ever come back. There are so many good buffets there this one would go bust in no time if it was in either of those countries.
Oh, to add insult to injury, my bf managed to find a staff putting out crab near the end of our time there but we were all too full to eat it so he enjoyed it himself. Needless to say, he had a stomach ache afterwards, which none of us had. Is it really a godsend that he found some «good» seafood at the buffet?
To summarise, come here for a buffet experience, although you might get a bad experience and not a good one. I will not come back again, even though their desserts were really nice. My colleague tells me her experience was better, albeit she went there early (i.e. when they start the buffet). Maybe, just maybe, but once was enough for me.

New place in Ilford. Great selection of food from fresh seafood to salads. All cuisines. Thai, Indian, Chinese, Japanese and more!
Self service as it’s a buffet style. Took me back to when I was in America. Nice décor makes you feel like your in a nice hotel buffet or some sort. Worth giving it a go.
